Inner tub base rubbing on outer tub

I have a Fisher and Paykel WA80T65FW1 washing machine. When it is spinning it is making a screetching sound. If I pull the inner tub out, I notice that the plastic at the bottom has been worn from rubbing on the bottom of the outer tub. Any suggestions to fix this?

Sounds like you need to replace the bearings supporting the shaft. Not an easy job without the proper tools and if you haven't done it before.

SOURCE: Fisher and Paykel Washer Leaking

For those with water on floor after wash, check my post on "eco smart won't drain, smells hot". It could be something clogging drainage area at very bottom of the tub. I couldn't see the sock that was stuck in my FP's drain when I looked from the top between the white outer tub and the wash tub--everything looked fine. Then I removed the black motor/white plastic housing piece--Tip back washer and you should see this black electric motor/white housing on bottom. see my post for how to remove and check for plugged drain. it's really pretty easy.

don't know about outer tub holes, but glad i don't have that problem.

i hate my fisher paykel washer/dryer. i can't wait to sell this house--i will leave them here and get a new front load Duette for my next house!

My LG washer makes a horrendous noise when it in use. what could cause this?

Open door and see if you can move inner tub without the outer rub moving. If you can the 'spyder' which hold inner drum to axel hub is broken. Post results in comment section

We have dirty marks deposited upon completion of washing using a Fisher And paykel washimg machine.Any suggestions how to fix?

Take the inner spin bowl out & scrub it and the outer bowl clean of any soap scrud build up. Stop using softener if you use it as that and too much cold water washing is the main cause of the build up.

Tub seems to be dragging, does this machine have bearings?

Yes it has a main bearing / seal assembly. I would be looking for something caught in or between inner & outer bowl.

Worn outer tub

yea youl need to replace the tub alright, cgances are the bolts holding the inner tub to the transmission shaft have also broken off, which is why the inner tub spun off kilter and rubbed a hole in the outer tub,. the bolts (2 of them ) woulds have benn locking the inner basket to the tranny shaft, visible after removing the agitator
