Create a new account and then attend memory improvement classes. Most folks access their email account daily. I understand that most also stay logged on with the device they are using as well, and this can lead to forgetting. However, you are responsible to keep track of your accounts, user ids, and passwords. We are inundated with so many of them anymore that it is impossible to remember them all, especially some of the ones we use on just an occasional basis. The easiest way to keep them all straight and up to date is to create a file or spreadsheet with all your accounts in it. Include the URL, Userid, and password. Then, using an encryption program like WINZIP or WINRAR or even passwording a Microsoft file, save the file with a strong password that you can remember easily, but one that is not easy to guess. Do not use words found in the dictionary. Avoid family names and birthdates. It's best to use a combination word of nonsensical variation. Make it at least 10-15 characters long as well. And don't name the file something obvious like "ACCOUNTS AND PASSWORDS!"
And if you are afraid you will forget that, WRITE IT DOWN, and save it somewhere safe, just not on your device(s). Now, with that done, if you forget am account, ID, or password, you can retrieve it. Just remember to periodically update the file to keep it current. Also, don't forget that many accounts use your email address or phone number as a way to remind you if you forget. So, if you change your email account/phone number, you need to update your profile on those accounts in case you forget. Otherwise, the reminder is sent to a phone number/email address that no longer exists.

When you go to sign in there will be a link below the password box 'Forgot your password?'. Click that and they will send a procedure to your backup email. If you did not put in a backup there is an alternative.

They want you back !!

Can't log into my gmail account because someone has changed my password

If you suspect that someone else knows or has changed your password, please reset it so nobody else can sign in to your account. To do so, just enter your username on the password-assistance page.
Account username:
  • For Google Accounts without Gmail: the full email address you used to create your account.
  • For Google Accounts with Gmail: everything before '@gmail.com'
If you think someone has access to the email address associated with your Google Account, please change the password for your email as well. Learn more about keeping your account secure.
If you're unable to reset your Google Account password, and you can't sign in to your account, you can fill out the account recovery form.

Why am I unable to access gmail in the 'usual'way, which is to simply click on 'gmail' in a short list of quick links shown on my home page? Why is the page telling me to open a google a/c. when I do

Dear Raina Stevens,
Your question is nearly 2x weeks old & I hope that you have already got your gmail account up & running again. If not then I will try & float a few suggestions: If you have a gmail account, then you do not have to open a new one!...unless your old account has become unrecoverable. When you originally signed-up for gmail, you may or may not have set up recovery options? You will at some stage need to enter a USERNAME e.g.: [email protected] & a PASSWORD. If you did not set up a password recovery solution, then you will have to use gmail's HELP assistance - which can be painful at times! Tell them what you used to do - ( I presume that you were using: "Keep me logged-in" ) & any information, when asked for, that only you would know. Your emails will still be on their servers - (computers) - & they may ask you who were some of your frequent correspondents... Do search through their Help pages.
Once you recover your account KEEP A RECORD OF YOUR USERNAME & PASSWORD! Keep it somewhere safe i.e.: NOT taped to your computer screen!
If not & you HAVE to start again, then make sure that you keep a record; Have an alternative set of "backup verification codes" printed off & carried in your wallet. Backup verification codes are a seies of 10 numbers that you can use just once each to login if you forget your password again. Also keep an alternative email account with Username & password that you register with gmail when you open up a new account or make your old account more secure. I would not suggest that you use "2x step verification" to log in, as that will just complicate the proceedure for you. I know that this may seem too complicated, but the fact is that nasty "black-hat" hackers force decent people to have to take precautions. (I had a far too simple password that was very similar to my username once before & a Nigerian hacker guessed it & wiped out all my contacts & about 7x years worth of emails...I was devastated...until a week or so later I found that by reading heaps of HELP pages I was able to restore all my contacts & all my 'lost' emails...PHEW!) So do not despair - take a deep breathe & BE PATIENT!!!
By the way - instead of a "password"...use a "pass-phrase"...say the title of a favourite book for example..."The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World." replacing "Seven" with "7" etc. God Bless you!

How can i have my same gmail acct from cell phone to laptop

Simply click the link below, click "Sign in" in the upper right hand corner and sign in using the same username and password you used to create the account on your phone. Gmail works on any platform with a browser so your laptop will have no issue as long as it is up to date.

I need my gmail account acitvated

If you're sure about your username - click on Can't access your account? under the login box.Check the first option "I don't know my password" and you'll be asked for an email where your login details/reset password instruction to be sent. You'll have to answer few questions (like security questions and contact details you've set when registering).

Its a bit tricky, but whole process is less than half an hour even if it fail first time
