I'm using Windows 7 and Live Mail. I didn't make clear the fact that I not only deleted the messages but I answered yes to "are you sure you want to delete these messages permanently"

First time I have used this fixya and not too sure that I am using it correctly so apologies if I'm not

I found a couple of options that might be worth trying, if they are still viable.
Recover deleted emails from Windows Live Hotmail

http://indows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/outlook/recover-deleted-messages
I have this program that has saved me on other things, it is safe.

Hi Iris:
If you've started a post and want the person who responded to get a reply from you, it's easiest if you reply as a COMMENT on your original post.
- To jump in to your question, if you've emptied the messages from your "deleted" file they are gone. That's as far as I know.
Hope this helps you.

HOW DO I DELETE 18000 UNREAD MESSAGES IN WINDOWS LIVE MAIL FILE CONTAINING 26000 MESSAGES?

You can only select a full page at a time using Live Mail's internet connection.
You can set up another mail program on your computer and download all 26000 messages and select which ones you want to delete and then do it all in one operation. The mail program will then update Live Mail. This will take some time even if you are only downloading the headers.

How do you delete old email 'address'es in my computer file

Which email account ?

Erase Email Addresses in My Computer

Email addresses can be stored on a computer if you use email software, such as Microsoft Office Outlook and Yahoo Messenger Beta.

Deleting email addresses manually from these programs does not actually completely erase them from your computer.

To erase email addresses permanently, meaning that a hard drive recovery program will not be able to restore them if it is used, requires a process called formatting, which completely erases the information on a hard drive.

Click on the shortcut "My Computer," which you can locate on your desktop.

Right click "Local Disk (C:)" and select the "Format" option.

Change the "Allocation Size Unit" to "Default Allocation Size."

Click the "Start" button.

The email addresses, as well as the rest of the files on the hard drive, will now be erased.

Delete a Live Mail Email Address

Windows Live Mail is a part of the Windows Live suite of productivity and entertainment programs, and it is intended to be the new free email client for Windows beginning with Windows 7.

After trying Windows Live Mail, you may decide that you have added too many email addresses and that you would prefer to use the email client to check only one address.

Remove an email address from Windows Live Mail to reduce the clutter in your email inbox.
Launch Windows Live Mail, and browse to the "Tools" menu at the top of the screen.

Click "Accounts."

Click the email account that you would like to delete.

Click the "Remove" button.

A message will appear to remind you that any messages belonging to the email account that are not backed up in another location will be deleted permanently.

Click "OK" to confirm.

The account will be deleted immediately.

Click "Close" to return to Windows Live Mail.

Delete Hotmail Adresses

Log in to your hotmail account and click "Help."

Search for "Cancel Account" and select "Why are all my email messages gone?"

Expand the option that says "Close a free Hotmail account" and click "Windows Live Hotmail close account."

Click "Close Account" on the page that opens.

If you do not sign in to your account for 365 days, your account will also be deleted.

Hope this helps.

I accidentally permanently deleted my Outlook Express application, can it be restored? My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit, 2009 version, Service Pack 1

Windows 7 does not support the use of Outlook Express - this was removed from Windows Vista and Windows 7 and replaced by Windows Mail (in Vista) and by Windows Live Mail (in 7).
If you have copies of the Outlook Express mail database files (inbox.dbx etc) you should be able to migrate these into Windows Live Mail using the Import Messages option in the File menu and selecting Microsoft Outlook Express 6 then browsing to the folder where your mail database files for Outlook Express are held.
If you have previously exported your Outlook Express account details (name.iaf) - you can import these into Windows Live Mail too through the Import option in the Accounts page.
Lastly, if you still have your Outlook Express Address book (name.wab) this can be imported in to your Windows Live Contacts by selecting File then Import Windows Address book (.wab).

I need to delete my email and replace with an exisisting one [email protected] and replace to [email protected] thanks

You didn't give any specifics, so I am going to have to make some assumptions. I will assume that you are using Windows 7, and that yo are using the free Windows Live mail client that took the place of Outlook Express. Open Windows Live mail, and then click the far right-hand tab at the top that says "Accounts." Click the button on the left that looks like an @ symbol with a + sign on it. Use the resulting wizard to add a new account. If you want to delete the one already in there, find that account in the left-hand pane, and right-click on the top-level folder for that account, and click "remove account." Make sure that you don't remove the one that you just added by accident. If you are using something besides Windows Love Mail to currently get your mail, please specify what method you are using to get your mail.

I have been using windows live mail for several months for two email accounts. My hotmail account works fine but for my second westnet account (www.westnet.com.au) i am able to recieve email but unable to...

G'day,

All of the documentation on the westnet.com.au site shows that your "Outgoing mail server" should be set to "mail.westnet.com.au", not "mail.wn.com.au". Please check both of your accounts in Windows Live.

If this doesn't fix your proble, could you please repost the settings for your two accounts so that I can compare them?
