Gas dryer not maintaining heat. 70 Series Kenmore/Whirlpool 76722

The dryer heats at the start (after rest), and maintains the heat for about 15 minutes. After that, the dryer continues to tumble, but the dial (i.e. control timer knob) never moves if Auto Dry is chosen (the knob does move in Timed Dry.)
I did remove the front panel plug & can see the heating elements glowing intermittently. The light cycles on & off once (not sure if that's right?)I don't know where the fuse is(even with the repair parts list I can't make it out), but if the dryer's heating at all, does that mean the fuse is OK?

Fuse is ok . Problem is the soils on the burner valve . If the dryer heats when started , the electricity goes thru the coils to open the valve . Once the coils get warm , 1 will open (short) until it cools back down . The coils can be replaced just by removing the front panel . Only 2 screws hold the coils in place . No turning off gas , dissasembling dryer .

Kenmore Gas Dryer does not dry clothes.

If this is the electric version then after 15 years you probably need a new heating element, they are not difficult to install and are not terribly expensive as a DIY project.

The problem is with the 2 little circular black coils next to the ignitor. They need to energize before the gas valve can open. They tend to get weak over time. I am 100% sure this is your problem. Good luck :)

I have a kenmore gas dryer modal # 76722691 76722, it runs but no heat. i did clean exhaust vents. I feel no heat.

Do you hear a snap when it first starts? If yes check the ignitor. If no check the thermal fuse and/or the thermostat.

Kenmore 70 Series

The most likely cause is a bad ignitor part number 279311. It has to glow to open the valve and ignite the gas. You should hear a loud click when you first start the dryer. That tells us there is voltage to the gas valve.
