Most modern machines are cold fill only and only have one inlet at the back in which case the answer to your question is yes. If you have 2 water inlets at the back and if they both need to be connected, you can get a "Y" piece that you fit to the cold water outlet with one end and connect the other 2 parts of the "Y" to the hot and cold inlets. You can also blank off the hot water inlet if you need to and then connect the cold only as normal.

The fill valve opens and the house water pressure pushes the water into the washing machine.
No cold water or no hot water - The fill valve has two coils, one for the hot water and one for the cold water. It is possible that one of the coils can fail and you loose that filling ability. If the cold water coil quits, the hot will still work and during warm fill you will get hot water only and during a cold fill you will get no water at all. If the hot coils quits, you will still have cold water fill, cold water only on a warm setting and no water on a hot fill setting. You can No cold water or no hot water - The fill valve has two coils, one for the hot water and one for the cold water. It is possible that one of the coils can fail and you loose that filling ability. Hot point aquarius 1100 - does this have a heating element for cold water feed ? or does is need direct hot water feed ? (there is a inlet at back for both hot and cold so presume no heating element ?)
All Hotpoint washers have heater element regardless of whether they are cold fill only, or hot and cold fill.
if 2 connections at rear, then it is hot and cold fill, if only 1 connection, then it is cold fill only.

Washing Machine Rinse and Spin lights are on

My kemore 80 series washer will not fill up
Check to see if there's good water volume coming through the hoses attached to the washing machine. If there is, check to see if the screens inside the water-inlet valve are clean. (The water-inlet valve is the device on the washing machine that the fill hoses are attached to.) If they're clean, you probably have a defective water-inlet valve. If so, you should completely replace the valve.

The water-level switch regulates your washer's fill volume. This switch is usually a diaphragm device with a small, clear tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. As the water level in the tub increases, the pressure on the air in the tube increases. When the pressure reaches a certain level, it activates the switch, shuts off the water, and signals the timer to begin the agitate cycle. If the switch is defective, it may prematurely signal the water to shut off. If so, you probably need to replace the water-level switch.

Washer will not fill when you select cold water
Q - My washer will not fill with cold water
A - More often than not, this is a bad fill valve. Please see the filling section.
 There's no cold water Some washing machines allow cold water to enter only during certain cycles. Others intermittently allow hot and cold to enter, to temper the temperature of the water. Consult your owner's manual if you are unsure about whether the machine is acting abnormally.

If you're sure the machine is not working the way it used to--or should--check the following.

  • Is the cold water turned on? If not, turn it on.


  • Is the washer getting hot water but no cold water? If so, check to see if the control panel settings are correct.


  • Is there cold water coming through the proper hose? If not, check to see if the screen inside the water-inlet valve is clean. (The water-inlet valve is the device on the washing machine that the fill hoses are attached to.) If it's clean, you probably have a defective water-inlet valve. If so, you need to replace the valve.

I have the washer on cold water, but it runs warm, stops, trickles, then comes out warm again, stops, trickles, then warm again ect.On the rinse cycle it will only trickle out.

I have a hotpoint aquarius wd640 my boiler has broke so could you tell me if my washer drier is a hot or cold water fill
Most washers made today, are cold fill only, best way to check is look at rear of washer, and if there is only one hose, then it is cold fill only, if 2 hoses, then hot and cold fill..
So if your boiler is not working, then it should be o/k to use if cold fill only.
Plz rate my solution.
