SOURCE: MFC 8460N giving Toner Life End message

I just solved my own problem. Try it for yours. I had been using several compatible toners for the MFC-8460N with no problems until today, as I posted earlier. On a hunch, I went to the local office supply store and purchased one original Brothers TN550 toner and put it into the printer and closed the cover. Everything clicked. Toner End Life message gone. I then took that Brother toner out and put the compatible one back in and still everything was fine. Am keeping the original Brother toner as a "kickstarter" if it happens again.

SOURCE: dcp 7020 and 7040 toner life end message premature, need override

When the Toner Life End LED flips on, requires you to replace the cartridge, even when there's still toner left in the cartridge. The machine detects end of life by shining a light through from one side to the other.
To circumvent the detection mechanism, remove the cartridge and put a piece of masking tape over or jam a little bit of paper into the clear opening/circle on the right side of the toner cartridge, and then pop the cartridge back in. Eventually, you'll start seeing streaks, and then you'll know that the cartridge is truly empty.

SOURCE: how to get ride of Toner life end message

You could try resetting the toner cartridge settings. OPen the machines front door where you would replace the cartridges. On the top panel you will see a "clear/back" button. Press it and on the display you will see a reset menu come up. Arrow to each one and hit the OK button. Press "1" to reset. Once you have gone through all close the front door of the machine and press stop to bring the display back to normal.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Toner Life End message on DCP-7040

If your cartridge has a lever on the left side near the rear, it needs to be reset, and there's a lever inside on the left that can stick and cause that error. You need to wiggle and pull that lever until it moves freely again.

Hello,

Open door
press Clear/Back key
press *00
press OK

Do not choose anything for drum replacement. when drum replacement menu comes up, just press the * and then 00, then just press OK.

that should clear the error message, the printer has a toner life counter that needs to be reset.

How to resent toner counter of Brother HL-2040 printer

These instructions show two ways to reset the toner count ( to install a used toner in printer or get more life out of a cartridge the printer says is empty)

please note that using refilled toner cartridges, non genuine toners and using the 'extra' 10% all have been shown to reduce drum life and prematurely degrade print quality.

you may need these techniques though if you have tried a new toner in a machine to diagnose and then want to install it in another machine.

The first method is to reset the mechanical flag on the left hand end of the toner cartridge. when you first install a toner the printer turns the toner drive gear which moves this flag from the back to the forward position (towards the toner roller).
the flag is the white rectangular bit pointed out by the yellow arrow in the photo
In this photo the position of the flag shows that this cartridge has been previously installed in a printer.
you can undo three screws (red arrows in photo) and reposition the flag in the start position.
be careful to observe the way the gears are installed.
one technician I know just used a flat blade screwdriver to force the flag back to its home position ( to the right) without undoing the screws. seemed to work for him.

the second method is to
1. open the toner door
2. turn printer off
3. hold down go button
4. turn on power while holding go
5. hold down go button for 4-5 seconds untill all lights come on and one goes out
6. press go twice then wait 2 seconds
press go 5 times

printer should power cycle and show itself as ready

My bizhub c25 waste toner was full so replaced and will not now reset.

The C25 stores toner in a waste toner container. On the front of that container there is rectangular clear window that fits into a sensor when installed into machine. The sensor passes a beam of light through that window. When the bottle is full there is toner inside that clear plastic window which stops the light from making it through the window and the machine will tell you the waste toner is full. Just dumping the container out will not clear that window and by putting it back in the machine you will get the same toner full message. If you are going to try to reuse that container you will have remove the black plastic cover that is glued to the container above the clear plastic. Then use something like a Qtip to clean all the toner off of that clear window(much easier and faster to just replace in with a new container). if you still get the waste toner full message after you install it then remove it and wipe off the sensor that the clear window sits in. This will clear the message and you can continue your copy job.

BROTHER-MFC7430 Toner life end

actually, you dont' really need to replace your drum, your drum actually is good for 5-6 years.
you just need to clean up the drum with duster and put that back into the machine.
when reset the drum, you just need to open the front cover and press Clear buttom then 1.
after that the whole thing will be reset and ready to go for it.

My Ricoh CL7000 keeps asking to replace the yellow toner, which I have done and it goes through the motions of loading the toner then the error message comes back again - asking to replace the yellow...

The toner cartridges for the CL7000 have microchips embedded in them, so the machine knows if it's not a new cartridge. Was the cartridge you put in brand new? (And was it a genuine Ricoh cartridge?)

On those printers, the toner is pumped into a developer system and mixed with the developer before making the image. In the developer unit, the density is checked, so if it's not seeing the right mix there, one of three common problems could be causing this.

The more likely solution is to replace the yellow developer unit, which comes as a whole unit and just slides right in. That will reset your density levels and should correct the "load toner" error.

There is a spring and cushion mechanism that the toner cartridge sits on -- this mechanism can easily be popped out of place and cause problems loading the toner. Take out the yellow toner as well as one of the other colors, and see if the little black circular piece is sitting the same way for both colors. If not, just pop it back into place, using the second color as a guide.

The other likely possibility is that the yellow toner supply tube is clogged, but that doesn't happen very often. To test if it's clogged, take out the yellow toner cartridge and the yellow developer unit and turn the copier off. Use a vacuum to provide suction at one end of the tube (the toner end will be easier) and put your finger on the other end (the developer end) and see if you feel the vacuum's suction. If not, there is probably a clog somewhere in the line.

If there is no clog and you can feel the suction, you may have a bad toner supply motor.

As a side note, if you find the problem and fix it, you might still have to put a new yellow toner cartridge in to get the machine running because it will think the cartridge you already tried is empty.

Hope that helps!

I am changing the ink cartridge i put the new one in and it keeps saying End of life and it has a new cartridge what do i do

Here is the solution that will reset the count and allow your fully functional toner cartridge (the one the printer tells you is empty) to continue to work.

Open the front cover.
Press options button.
Press the start button.
Press + or up arrow button 10 times.
Press set button.

You have to do this with a long pause or the system will reset and you will have to start over.

Good luck.

Konika Minolta 2430 DL won't let me print

Look through the menus on the printer for a setting for "Low Toner" -- the choices of what to do are usually either "continue" or "stop" or something similar (my 2430DL has this option setting) -- set this option to "Continue".
My 15 year old HPs also have a similar setting. However, this will keep it printing when the black runs out, so you will need to check your print production run visually as you go along to make sure the quality is what you need

Lexmark e250dn printer, toner light is flashing, new cartridge

Could be photoconductor at end of life.

You shoul still be able to do a printer test print (press the arrow button).

Look on the printed pagesfor Toner AND Photoconductor.

These show as OK when new or very low count, and 100% when fully used.

If the toner is showing as 100% when you've just replaced it, either the chip is faulty, the wrong one, or if the cartridge is a remanufactured one possibly nor been replaced.

Toner life end

Try removing the new toner cartridge from the machine, and shake it up and down and sideways, over a newspaper. Then, put it back in the machine and see if that helps. Sometimes, especially if the new cartridge was exposed to high temperatures or humidity before you got it, the toner SETTLES inside. Shaking it up can usually help.
