Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

Older-model Toshiba TV shuts off by itself

There is a large sand filled resistor on the main board close to where the power cord attaches that cracks. This will stop power until it cools enough to make the connection then heats up rapidly to open it again. It may be worth the trouble if you're handy with a soldering gun and can get the back off the TV. If not then I'd consider getting a flat screen.

It sounds that the voltage output from its internal power regulator board is not proper. Check it.

Quite a long "description". "How can I fix it without having to check the back of the TV or going to a repairman?" (I altered the spelling etc a little there.)

One must be very careful of the quality of the replacement lamp. Many of the cheap 'deals' on the web for replacement lamps are substandard. I always recommend that replacement bulbs be the original manufacturers bulb.

HP Pavilion MD5020N 50 in. HDTV DLP TV keeps shutting down

ok this is what you do folks.... un-plug the tv from the power supply. once that is done hold the power button down on the side of the television for 30 seconds. this will release all electricity out of the tv.... then before you plug it back in hold the channel down vol up button along with the power button at the side on the tv this should reset the tv and it will start up automatically on video one. Select your source and scan for your cable channels again. If the problem is not solved then contact someone to come and clean the filter for the tv because it may be clogged along with this it can be the color wheel and may shut itself off like 3 times until it feels it is right.

Tv wont come on

You may have some type of short INSIDE of your TV .Your TV is trying to turn on and RESETS itself to try again. If you have an EXTERNAL [black box],(usually means power supply, power adapter, etc.) power supply, that!! could be at fault. not giving the proper voltage, current, causing the machine to fault. If you can exchange a known working power supply to see if that is the problem.
If you don't know what you are doing, don't go inside of the TV. There are circuits that can hold a charge of electricity that can & will hurt you.
