I cant get past the start up registration and if i skip i cant get connected to any gmail accounts or any account for that matter
I have factory reset, skipped set up, checked wifi and even tried looking on the website for help. i can not sign into any google accounts or anything of the sort. i also havent been able to complete the set up registration.

it may work if you connect your kindle by cable to your computer
the computer will recognise as onther storage device open it see if you can locate your books slect and copy create a folder on your computer paste /save once you know it is saved reset your kindle

If the device is purchased with a diff account you need to follow deregister process first. There can be an issue with the network too as device will no register without active internet connection. here are the steps to register kindle device.
From Home, go to Menu, and then select Settings. Then select option My Account (newer generation devices) or Registration (earlier generation devices)
Now you get 2 options if you have an existing account or need new account. Select the appropriate option and follow simple onscreen instructionss or contact kindle support
To deregister the Old Kindle:
From Home, go to Menu, and then select Settings. Then select option My Account (newer generation devices) or Registration (earlier generation devices).
Now hit Deregister Device & If prompted, select Deregister again to confirm.
Once you are done with this process proceed with the registration steps again and make sure you have the correct password to successfully register your kindle device . Now can register kindle device from a computer or from device itself.
You will need an amazon account. When you first start your tablet it should ask you to enter your Amazon username and password. If not you can always reset the tablet to factory setting and enter the username and password of your Amazon account to start the registration process.

It sound like your network connection is no active. If the device is new, try a factory reset and start over. Otherwise, of you can access settings check the WiFi settings. Forget the network and then reconnect.

If you set a pass code (or pattern) that you cannot remember, please enter the wrong password (10-20 times) until you are prompted to sign in via your google account. Please note, this will only work if you have already setup your google account on the tablet. If you have not set up a Google (or Gmail) account on the tablet, you will have to perform a firmware install, which will revert the tablet back to factory settings.
Hold the power button down and the volume button down until the icon comes up then a menu will come up choose factor restore. If you still have problem let me know
