When we ran into this it was usually put on the wrong input. Try changing the imput on your television. Also make sure all the cables are tight. if your using component or composite cables, meaning Blue Red and Green, or Blue Red and White make sure they snug into the connectors. Most of the time to change the imput you might have to switch it from the tv itself or thru a menu option.
BTW, if you want to view a 4K video on PC with its original video quality, you should make use of the specificfree 4k video player.

SOURCE: Panasonic 1080p Plasma TH-42PZ80U Home Theater Setup Question
Hey Gamer1827,
While I personally can't provide you with any model-specific home theater system recommendations, there are a couple of common ways that you can generally configure your home theater.
Connecting several devices directly to the HTIB system may typically allow you to minimize the number of remote controls necessary, as long as the HTIB system supports the use of a universal remote. Should you not necessarily care if you have to change back-and-forth between two remotes however, you may have a wider variety of possible configurations available.
In order to use only HDMI cable connections to set up your home theater, you most likely would need an HTIB system with three HDMI ports: one for your TV, one for your PS3 and one for your cable box. Each device would require a separate HDMI cable running between it and the receiver. This option (in theory) would allow you to use one universal remote to control each device, assuming that they are all compatible with the same remote.
Another common configuration you might wish to try requires you to connect your cable box and PS3 directly to your TV. By doing so however, you might limit yourself to using an optical digital audio cable to make the connection between your TV and many HTIB systems. In this configuration, the cable box and PS3 would again have their own separate HDMI cables, while the optical digital audio cable would need to be run from the Digital Audio-Out port on the back of your TV to the Digital Audio-In port on the receiver. This option essentially treats the HTIB system as an expansion device, instead of the center of your home theater configuration.
Should you need any additional information or suggestions, remember that you may always speak with a sales representative at your local Best Buy™ store for further assistance.
Hope this helps you out.
Sincerely,
Aaron

Ok, here's the deal. You can have sound being putout from hdmi coming from one of those sharp units, but it just depends on how you are connected. If you are using a digital audio output, from the tv, it wont push out the sound the way that it should. You will have to downgrade to using audio composite cables to connect to your external speaker system from the audio ouputs, not the digital audio outputs. Its not designed to push out sound from an hdmi cable. The BEST way to have this setup is to run your sound directly from the cinema to the external audio source(leaving the hdmi cable in the tv).

Any HDMI cable manufactured in the last couple of years should all be HDMI 1.1 compliant, your problem is most likely the logic board in the TV itself or the HDMI connector on the logic board has a bad connection..
Have you tried hooking-up a standard DB15 VGA cable to the AKAI TV and your laptop?
If this works your problem is in the TV and will most likely have to be repaired to receive the HDMI signal since your Panasonic DVR and your laptop are not recognized by the HDMI input on the TV.
Good luck!

SOURCE: Panasonic TH-46PZ85U Plasma TV
Symptom:
TV shuts off unless all the input (phono and HDMI) cables are disconnected. The
symptom may be intermittent.
Cause:
There is an abnormal AC voltage entering the TV from one of the input cables or AC
outlet.
Remedy:
Follow the Testing procedure to determine if there is a problem external to the product.
Concept
Constant symptom
If the TV no longer shuts off when all input cables are disconnected, then one of the
input cables is introducing abnormal voltages into the TV. Panasonic Plasma TV sets
have 3 wire AC plugs.
As a result, abnormal voltages introduced into this TV will cause the TV to shut off for
protection.
Intermittent symptom
If the abnormal input voltage is borderline (marginal), the TV shut off symptom may be
intermittent. However the cause may still be detectable with a voltmeter.
Protection Proof:
Release the protect mode - the TV has to be unplugged to reset this protection circuit.
Threats from the HDMI input:
Excessive voltage from an HDMI cable connected product will activate the Plasma TV’s
protection circuitry. Placing an isolating / buffering connector (sometimes called a voltage
conditioner) between the TV and the HDMI input cable often solves the problem.
Testing -
Unplug all the HDMI inputs from the TV. Turn on the TV. Plug in the HDMI inputs one at a
time. The cable that causes the TV to enter the protection state is connected to the product
that has the excessive voltage (and signal). Avoid connecting this product until an isolating
connector is found.
