Hello Lonnie, for the issue network please call your provider company ATT if is not activate the new phone you can not use until the line gets an update; about the wifi connection if you have any internet provider or access to wifi connection just go to the setting on the phone then get connect, maybe need put the username and password of the internet provider or it is open connection wifi as well.
ATT has good customer serice if you dial 611 from your phone, assuming you're in the USA. Other than that, go to an ATT company store, rather than an ATT reseller. Even better is to find the closest ATT Service Center and phyically walk in the door looking for help.

go online to your carriers web site (att, sprint tmo etc) how to connect via internet (configuration) put your cell phone number in they can send the configuration automatic or you can entered it manually
I had this same problem. I was going to go ahead and call ATT and ask them to put my modem into bridge mode, but I messed around a bit more....
I went ahead and turn on PPPoE...tried to run the set up again. Well it worked. Not the internet connection is working through the modem. For some reason, the setup changed PPPoE back to DHCP Client, but it's working now. Give this a shot before calling ATT if you like. Good luck.
