Will a tascam m1600 function correctly without a specific power supply?

I power up the m1600, but I am using a 1000VA voltage converter because I am in Europe. I'm getting no signal and I am following the instructions as far as what button to push to see or hear signal. Only the power light comes on and if I push any solo button the solo indicator light comes on. I have been trying to run XLR, 1/4 line, 1/4 line from ipad, direct line in from roland synth module ...and nothing. I need help

As long as your power supply is supplying the correct voltage and the amp rating is sufficent, and of course the power supply itself is functioning, then your problem is more likely to be a routing error somewhere.. it's probavbly best to center all controls, disengage all switches, and start over from nothing. You should also check that what ever you are using to hear the signal is functioning correctly as well.

Why are there only two dots when I power on?

1. Make sure that you have the correct power supply plugged in.
2. If you are using the BOSS power supply, it could be defective. Measure the voltage it is producing and make sure it is correct.
3. If the voltage is correct, then the problem is inside the unit, and it will need servicing.

Kinda hard to tell you exactly what the problem is. Your current power supply may not be able to give you the amperage you need even though the voltage is the same. You can get the correct power supply on Ebay.

Can i use the ps21us power supply in europe without a transformer?

not unless its set up for 220volts also, some of the older models have a switch you can flip to make that change, the newer ones don't, most everything in Europe is 22volts,, they do have adapters with voltage step in them, so shop around, they can be pretty cheap depending on the wattage required.. hers a few you can check out

Buying a used Tascam 788. P.O. lost the power supply. How can I get a replacement? Couldn't find anything on TASCAM site.

Hi, Provided there is a tag on the back showing the units model number, on that same tag should be the power requirements for it-buying a universal power supply, or even a used working one to another piece of equipment is acceptable as long as the polarity is the same. Polarity is located right next to where the power supply plugs into the unit. It will be a " circle with a dash inside it with a line connecting to a C looking symbol with a line coming out of it connecting another circle with a plus sign inside. " that is a typical outer ground/inner positive marking. a power supply will be marked the same. If they match the polarities are the same. Next make sure the power supply says the proper DC voltage and Milliamps or amps-Ma/A example: 2400Ma, 2.4a. I hope this helps and thank you for asking FixYa, good luck and don't forget to write back and let me know how I did, Prodzilla.

Hi my behrinher DJX 700 - damaged transformer i think, i bought the unit in canada and i used it with a voltage converter, worked just fine, recently my son pluged it in the uk socket and it bloone the...

Sounds expensive. How did the Canadian plug fit a UK socket? The fuse won't have blown fast enough to avoid all damage. Their coucld be an internal fuse - see instruction book. It won't be a home repair job it its not the internal fuse - sorry.

TC Electronic D-Two Power unit locked up display

I don't know if this will help. Have you looked for a battery on the circuit board that backs up the memory? A lot of synths use them and when they go the unit quits functioning. Some will start right up again once the battery is replaced others require a system update through a download. Anyways I always recommend contacting the company in question. They should be able to tell you simply whether it needs servicing or not:http://tcsupport.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/tcsupport.cfg/php/enduser/ask.php

Noisy when I use with 9v charger and is not

The posts on this site will help:http://music-electronics-forum.com/t10712/ I had trouble finding the correct schematic but the one here:http://www.tonepad.com/getFile.asp?id=42 should give you an idea of what I am talking about. Using a volt ohm meter on the D.C. volts scale ,hook up the black probe to the circuit ground. Make sure to use the correct adapter as a variation in the current output. ma will blow your pedal up. The diode in the schematic with one end hooked to ground protects the circuit from adapters that are wired backwards. It is the first thing you want to check. You will have to perform a diode test. Hopefully your meter has this function. If the diode is O.K. and you can get the correct voltage ( polarity, milliamps etc.) into the circuit, have a look at the schematic. Test each I.C. for voltage at pin 8. Depending on what I.C.s are in your pedal you can find the defective one by testing for voltage at the supply pin and then the other pins of each I.C. If you find voltage at a pin that should only be carrying signal you probably have found a defective one.For instance, in the sample schematic, pin 2 of IC 1a should have no voltage present such as 9 volts for instance. Test all the diodes, test all the ICs. If they are all fine you will have to test each transistor. The info on how to do all this as well as the pin outs are all available on the internet. After you find the defective part or parts test any parts that are hooked to them in the circuit as well as they may have failed or caused the other part to fail. Before I got an oscilloscope I had to unsolder a lot of parts to test them with a VOM, a transistor tester and a capacitor tester. The repairs paid for the scope. Let me know how you make out. I don't work on effects that much any more as my eyesight is failing but I might be able to steer you in the right direction. If you decided at this point that you don't want to try the repair, take it to a good musical instrument repair place and have it fixed. Vintage pedals are getting to be worth a lot of money and they usually sound better than the reissues.

Yamaha SY77 Keyboard--getting no power at all. Opened it up and used multimeter to test switch, and all fuses that share the circuit board with the switch. Any flowchart for troubleshooting this? Thanks!

Try looking for the voltage rectifier or bridge diode that converts the A.C. supply into D.C. to power the circuits. Test it with your multimeter using the diode test function if you have one.Hope this helps.
