Why did I lock myself out of my tablet?

Reset Lock Screen Password or PIN on Your Fire Tablet

1. From the lock screen on your Fire tablet, enter the wrong password or PIN five times.
2. Choose Reset Your PIN from the on-screen notification.
3. Enter your Amazon account password, then tap Continue.
4. Enter a new PIN or Password, then tap Finish.

Reset Lock Screen Password or PIN on Your Fire Tablet

Factory reset will return it to factory condition, without a pin.
Reset it again.

You can change your Fire tablet's lock screen password or PIN directly from Manage Your Content and Devices.

1. Manage Your Content and Devices, and then select Your Devices.
2. From the list of devices registered to your Amazon account, select your Fire tablet.
3. Select the Device Actions drop-down menu, and then select Remote Lock.
4. Enter and then confirm a new password or PIN, and then select Lock Device.
5. From your Fire tablet, tap Unlock Device.
6. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen to unlock your device. Enter your lock screen password or PIN, and then tap OK.

You will need to do a factory reset:

1) Make sure the tablet is powered down.
2) Press and hold VOLUME UP(+) and DOWN(-) buttons, plus POWER button all at the same time.
3) Insert a metal pin in the RESET hole at the back of the tablet, then push and hold it for 2 seconds, while still holding the VOLUME and POWER buttons. Make sure the pin is pushed. It seems like nothing happened, but just keep on going to the next step.
4) Power ON the tablet and immediately, PRESS and RELEASE continuously the VOLUME UP(+) button in order to get the display as showing dead tablet (dead robot).
5) This is the critical part. Make sure you do the right sequence or you will start again from the beginning. Press and hold the POWER button, then press and release VOLUME UP(+), and the display will give you a screen showing different options.
6) Choose the option wipe data/factory reset, by clicking POWER button to scroll down. To execute the selected option, press VOLUME UP(+) button. The tablet will reboot back to its factory setting.
