What causes an occasional grinding sound when camera is on?
I've noticed it depends on the angle I hold it at sometimes. I do handheld work and I also use a tripod.
It is a little over a year old and the video and sound still records fine (all modes/formats) but there is a grinding sound that it makes which is heard and interferes in recording situations where sound needs to be controlled.
I mainly use it P2 mode 720 24PN but I have shot in just about all the formats.
If noise occured during while OIS function is on,then must lubricate the axis inside lens underneath the ccd block.Due to friction of the movement of the coil used for moving lens for optical stabilizing function makes noise, but if this is not the problem, camera board must be next suspect,so first clean and lubricate and after ask service for cost.So generally speaking ,the problem is on the lens unit ,or the camera board which drives it...
