DVD playing Something changes the Color depth and or resolution of my screen and my laptop wont play DVD's now, how do I change the color depth?

You probably need to find and install DVD decoder software. There are also free players available online with built-in decoders.

It is possible that your VGA is malfunctioning. But you will notice it when the screen resolution is set to a specific resolution and color depth.
Games play at it's own resolution. Not at the resolution you set for Windows. Probably WoW is setting the screen resolution and color depth to a values at which the VGA fail.
Did you try changing the screen resolution in WoW options? If not try it. Also try changing color depth.
Also, download GPUZ and check your VGA.

I'm assuming by playing tracks you mean music. Check that your volume is up and not muted, check to see if the soundcard works with headphones as it could be a speaker issue (make sure they're powered on). Try re-installing the soundcard drivers... if your color depth is also very low it sounds like either the PC booted into safe mode due to a previous issue (rebooting may resolve, if prompted select normal startup) or worse you've lost some drivers for whatever reason... reinstalling this could get everything back the way it was. If it's just a color issue, right clicking on your desktop and choosing properties to change the resolution and color depth will fix... assuming you're using windows.

If you Right clik on the desktop,you will open a window,and at the bottom will be "personalize",(assuming you have Vista).Or even XP will do the same,just called different.Look for "Display Settings" and you will find "Screen Resolution" and "Colors". Try different Res's until it looks good to screen size,and lower your "Colors" to >16 bit.

You'll have to run the game in compatibility mode, with the color depth set to 256 colors.

You do this by right clicking on the executable of your game. click on Properties. Compatibility tab. Click the check to run compatibilty w/ Window 98, and set the color depth to 256 Color. That should work! Happy gaming.

The display applet has 5 tabs: Thmes, Desktop, Screen Saver, Appearance, and Settings. The 5th tab is where you make adjustments that relate directly to your monitor and video card. Look at the Settings tab. At the bottom of the dialog box, you'll see 2 options. Screen Resolution and Color Quality. By moving the Screen Resolution slider, you can change the resolution. The most common resolutions are 640x480, 800x600, 1,024x768, and 1,280x1,024.Your system may have more or fewer resolution options.

The color quality is the number of colors displayed on the screen .You can change the screen resolution with a simple slider and adjust the color depth from 4-bit all the way up to 32-bit color.

Running a 32-bit color gives a nice, realistic tone to images, and many games insist on it.

Clicking the Advance button opens another dialog box with 4 or more tabs.

The monitor tab gives you details about the currently installed monitor and enables you to make changes to the driver and the refresh rate.

After you make your changes to your monitor and it still is not working properly, it must be your video card which is not seated.
In layman term, your video card is not plugged in firmly in the slot!!

What DVD playback program are you using? Intervideo WinDVD is the best for-pay one, but you might look into Media Player Classic and VLC Media Player. Also, search google for K-Lite Mega Codec Pack and install it. It has the codecs required to play most movie formats. This could just be an issue of a broken codec. I would also recommend updating your video drivers (the screen that changes the color bit depth should tell you what kind of video adapter your laptop has; go to the manufacturer's website and get the latest driver).

You don't saty what OS you have, but in Windows: open Control Panel, Dbl-click Display, click on the "settings" tab, then slide the slider to the resolution you want.
