Heal lever won't press down to engage transmission on hydrostatic transmission

It may not be moving lever on transmission all the way back. Check it at the transmission where the link that you released leads to , then be sure it moves fully.

The drive belt may be broken, or it may have slipped off a pulley.

Try looking at the directional lever at the Transmission. The PTO for the deck will shut off when shifting into reverse. You may have to simply disconnect or jumper the reverse switch depending on if it is normally closed or normally open. Try it both ways to see what works. Also check the engine oil level, The low oil level switch will shut the engine down if more than a quart low.

Hello and thank you for choosing fixya. Many times when your hydrostatic transmission will not engage, it could be due to a loose, worn, or broken belt.

Check to see if your belt is still around all of your pulleys. Also, check to make sure that your belt is tight. Your mower has a bypass rod. This is the rod that you pull out, in order to release your bypass lever on your transmission, when you need to manually roll your mower. Lets make sure that this rod is fully releasing.

Double check your axles. If you have recently removed one of your rear wheels, and did not slide the square key, back into the keyway on your axle, this prevent your mower from moving when you engage your transmission.

You need to check the belt to the hydro units is connected properly and is tentioned and not slipping in the pilleys

Confirm the park brake is off. If a hydro-static drive tractor starts but engagement of the operator controls for the transmission drive results in neither a forward or reverse drive of the mower itself, the operator should check that the manual bypass controls have not been left in the activated (bypass) position.

Look in to where the lever connects and confirm the movement. You should be able to hear the hydraulic oil with a slight whine as you activate the drive forward pedal!

Check the transmission disengadge lever located behind the transmission. Make sure it is pushed in all the way. Otherwise, make sure the traction belt from the motor to the transmission is on track. If this is not the fix, please respond for further instructions... I've been running the "X" series JD tractor since they came out!

If you lower the blade deck and get down near the mower, you can see the blades belt on top of the deck. If it is intact, with the engine off, have someone try to engage the blades. A tensioner should move into place to tighten the blades. If it is not, follow the engagement lever to under the dash to see if there is a cable broken or a rod detached.

hello reut... most of the cub cadets have a hydrostatic transmission. that said, keeping the transmission fluid full is key to good operation. Check the tranny fluid and add as much as you need to bring it to spot on full. joe
