How do I fix my Jvc the screen won't power on. When I reset it the lights on the buttons light up...but shut off right away. It has power because the red light on the bottom left corner stays lit.

its not hard to replace the bulb and you can go to any tv shop and have them order it.youll need to give them the make and model number off the back of the tv so they know what to order

I have not worked on your model of set. I can tell you generically my opinion from experience of servicing many TV sets.

Once a fuse or any failure to operate properly occures in solid state devices there is an actual fault. These systems have very well designed protection circuits and are computer controlled.

The pop you heard is most probably a direct failure of a component that is most likely feed from one of the main power rails on the circuit board where it operates. The first area of fault may be in the main power supply. In these sets there are several levels of power supplies. Because the pilot light on the set is not lit, I would assume that the main power supply has failed.

It is also possible that a power drive circuit has failed, and the main power supply is in the protection mode, or has also failed. Normally, if there is a failure and the power supply can still function enough to operate the uPC, the uPC will issue a warning. This results in flash codes from the pilot light.

If the fault is not complicated an experienced TV tech may be able to troubleshoot and fix the power supply at the component level.

Normally these sets are serviced by swapping out boards. The tech will try the suspect boards and leave in the boards that make the set work. The next step is to follow the service manual using the calibration instruments to confirm and adjust the factory level setups.

TV sets are not simple devices. There are many power drive circuits that operate various areas. Flat panel sets have some basic principles that follow that of the CRT sets, but for the most part they are very different and very complex in many areas.

I tried to find for you any direct authorized support contact information for your TV. I was not able to find any.

These sets can be fairly expensive to service. You could try a local service center. Ask for an estimate before servicing the set.

When buying a new set I would suggest for you to stay with a big brand name type set. Whatever set you choose find out if there is direct factory level service in your area for the set.

Sounds like "Protection Mode". The TV automatically turns itself OFF when a part inside the TV has failed. This mode keep the other electronic parts from being damaged. Most likely the TV has a power supply related problem. It's possible that it maybe a bad capacitor or transformer on the power supply board. But, I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet. I can only make guesses with the symptoms.

You have a few choices:
1. You can try leaving the TV unplugged for 30 - 45 minutes so the TV can discharge and reset itself.
2. If by chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route.
3. If you have some electronic experience, if you can find and purchase a Service Manual over the internet; It will help you diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, schematics, test points, and part# lists.Usually, cost under $20. And most cases the new part cost less than $15 by searchingon the internet with the part number.
4. Pay a TV shop to do the repairs. It maybe costly, but get an estimate of how much they will charge. That way you can decide if it worth repairing or replacing the whole TV.

Sounds like a failed power board inside the TV, not the power supply. Unfortunately this is a very difficult repair, and unless you are an electrician I would not recommend attempting it. You will need to contact a local TV repair person in your area. If you think it may still be under warranty please contact the manufacturer to file an RMA. If you happened to purchase the TV with a major credit card (not a debit card) there is a good chance it may still be under the free extended warranty most credit cards place on electronics. Please contact your credit card company to inquire if they do this, and they will be able to file the claim and get you a refund for the TV.

So sorry that I don't have better news but it is definitely a power issue internally.
