Depending on the calculator, some are colour coded, so to get the function you want, you hit the associated colour function key and then the key with the function. Some calculators have two different colours, so each key has three functions assigned to it, one without a function key, one with colour key 1, and one with colour key 2.

Good luck,

Paul

Find antilog on es991

The natural logarithm function, denoted ln(x) has an inverse function called the exponential function, denoted e^x. That is what you call the antilog (I prefer the euphony of the exponential).
On calculators the two functions share the same physical key: One function is accessed directly and the other indirectly (SHIFT, 2nd F, or 2nd)
On the Casio FX-991ES the function ln and e key is the the one above the tan key.

The common logarithm or logarithm in base 10, denoted log(x) has an inverse function, the power function in base 10 or 10^x. In your terminology this would also be an antilogarithm.
The common log is accessed by pressing the log key to the left of the ln key, and the 10^x function is obtained with the sequence [SHIFT][log]

WHERE IS THE EXP BUTTON

The exponential function usually shares the same physical key as the natural logarithm [LN]. The function marked on the key is accessed directly. The function marked on the faceplate of the calculator is accessed with [2nd], or [2nd F] or [SHIFT]

How do i use the square root button? I don't know how to use the gray symbols above the buttons.

Press the "2ND" key at the upper-left-hand corner of the keyboard to access the second functions. For example, to calculate the square root of 2, press 2ND [square-root] 2 ENTER.

How do I re-set the margins?

using the space bar or backspace keys, move the carrier to where youwant the margin set, you may have to hold down the "ALT" button (2nd key from left on the bottom of the keyboard) and hit the "3" button (the one under wher it says "MAR REL") , to move past the margin. When the carrier is where you want the margin set, hold down the ALT key and then hit he key under where it says L MAR (for left margin) or R MAR (for right margin). the ALT key accesses all the function listed above the keyboard, the CODE key accesses all the functions listed on the keys themselves.

What do i press to be able to access the green symbols above my keys on a sharp EL-531VH

I can help you with your Sharp EL-531VH Scientific Calculator problem.

To access the symbols above the keys, press the '2nd' button first, then the button with the symbol you want. On my calculator the secondary functions are in orange, not green, but I suspect it is the same deal just a different color.

I have a digital copy of the manual for this unit - I will update this solution with a link after I have posted it to fixya.

I hope that helps.

How to calculate a square root number after pressing the 2nd button? For example, one of the problems i was asked was, 105625 all in square root by pressing 2nd, x^2 105625) and enter. But I cannot find...

Are we discussing squares or square roots?

The square root is the 2nd function of the multiply key.

There is no square function on the keyboard. Instead, simply raise the number to the second power using the ^ key just above the divide.

Where is the exponent button

To raise 10 to a power, use 10^x (the 2nd function of the LOG key). To raise e to a power, use e^x (the 2nd function of the LN key). To raise a number to another, use y^x (the key just above the divide key).

My ti - 83 hasn't been used in a while, placed new batteries in it and all i get is dark screen.....it won't even turn off......there is just a dark screen......any ideas what causing this and how to fix...

The most probable cause (at least I hope so) is that the screen got too dark after you changed the batteries. It is a common occurrence: Screen becomes too dark or too light.
To adjust the screen contrast:
  1. Press ^2nd key and release it.
  2. Press and HOLD the DownArrow key until screen lightens to your taste.

Where is factorial button on ti-83 plus

Hi,
Not every function on the TI83Plus calculator has a dedicated key, or is accessible through a key sequence. Among the keyless function is the factorial function.

To access the factorial function
  1. Through the catalog of commands: press [2nd][0] (CATALOG) and scroll Up till you reach the exclamation mark !
  2. Press [MATH]. Use right arrow to highlight PRB menu. The factorial function is the 4th in the list.
Syntax

Type the number and use one of the foregoing access methods to echo the exclamation mark on the home screen and press ENTER.
Ex: 12! =479001600

The largest number that you can use with the factorial is 69.

Hope it helps.
