Tried the command net stop spooler idea - but it didn't work.
Have had the problem for a couple of months now - it used to fix itself if I tood the toner unit out and put it back in. None of the toner lights have been on - just the status light.

Possibly, the print spooler needs to be restarted. In Windows, one of the ways to do this is in the Command Prompt window. (Start > Accessories > Command Prompt, right click on the command and choose Run as Administrator in Vista or Win7). Type "net stop spooler" <enter> without the quotes. At the next prompt, type "net start spooler" <enter> again without the quotes. After the last command finishes, restart the computer. Check that the queue is empty and retry printing.
I don't know which OS you have. I will assume it is a newer OS like WinXP. You have tried to reboot the PC I'd imagine. Try stopping the print spooler by running the following command from the cmd prompt.
net stop spooler
Then check the print queue and see if you can manually delete the print job. Then issue the command
Click Start, click Run, type command, and then click OK to display the command.com window.
Type net stop spooler, then press <Enter>.
Type sc config spooler depend= RPCSS start= Auto, then press <Enter>. The spaces between = and RPCSS and = and Auto are important. Without these spaces, the command fails.
Information gathered: Basically the printer carrier has stalled.
Lexmark documentation states that you should turn off your printer and wait a few seconds and turn the printer back on.
Restarting the spooler will sometimes do the trick as well.
Go to start, run
type: <cmd> without <>
Command prompt will open up.
Type: net stop spooler
The spooler will say it stopped successfully.
Type net start spooler
The spooler will say it started successfully.
Hope this helps!
