When i plug in the washer it comes on by itself with the start button and the sensor light just blinking away. at first it was the lid lock flashing light. so i replaced the lid lock assembly. same problem. so i replaced the control board. now the problem is as decribed above. lid lock ohms is ok. control board voltages ok. test led light does come on. now i'm being told it may be the switch activator. (spin cycle etc) got fault codes and all it points at is the lid lock mechanism.

have a washer mechanic check out the program board and the power cord for a missing earth pin
when using water around power equipment it is normal to have a earth wire for operator safety
Your washer lid lock button is locked and lid was not put down before it locked, which is why the light is flashing. Therefore, push the "START" button until you see the lid lock button is off (Approx 3 seconds). Once it is off, then you can put the lid down and push the start button again, which will lock the lid into place. The washer will NOT drain or wash or spin unless the lid itself is in the locked position. If you were able to get the lid down and locked and it still doesn't work, then you need a technician to replace a wiring harness. However, you mentioned that the lid lock button was flashing, therefore, it stands to reason that your lid is NOT locked down.
There is a reset but I don't think it will solve your problem. A blinking red light usually means there is a hardware malfunction somewhere. Your best bet would be to call Sony at 1800mysony and get it fixed by them. You could try a reset..you can do this by holding the power button down until it restarts itself and then letting go and holding the button down once more. If this doesn't work you are definitely looking at hardware problems. You could try getting some canned air and blowing out all of the vents, it could be that your vents are plugged or your fan is clogged up but if it doesn't start up and run at all it's probably a more severe issue.
I hope this helps! If this did help you, please give a thumbs up!
