Kenmore HE 2 Plus-start class action against sears anyone?

Yes I have the same stinky tub seal problem and SEARS is NOT taking responsibility for this problem AT ALL! Are ya kidding me! My front load kenmore washing machine is only 1 year old - purchased in June of 2008. I am not happy with the fact that I paid $800. dollars for a machine that needs to be replaced after 1 year. Does anyone know how to start a class action suit? would it help?

I am looking to see if anyone knows how to start a class action or get a company to do a recall.

I have a Kenmore Series 70 top loading wash machine that leaks. It is approx 12 years old, model 110.4767290 (canadian). It has a 2 inch crack in the bottom of the plastic tub. I tried filling with expoy...

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

Enter your model number (###.######) and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

The numbers following the 110 (which means it's made by Whirlpool) are usually 8 digits. Using the number that you provided, I couldn't find your washer on the Sears site. You will want to verify the number (usually by lifting the lid) and/or check for manuals / parts site from the following Sears site:

http://www.managemyhome.com/

Sears has replacement tubs (at least for my 12 year old top load for about $116.75 (U.S.) but you may be able to get one from Whirlpool for about the same cost. If you can get to the diagrams on the sears site. they often have "Manufacturer Authorized Substitutes) which are Whirlpool numbers.

FOR EXAMPLE, SEE THE SITE FOR OUR WASHER AND YOU'LL SEE EXAMPLES OF PARTS, DIAGRAMS AND COSTS.

Manual

Two places to search:

1. Following is the Sears Parts site. Enter your complete model number (###.########) and you should see diagrams (and part numbers / prices) when you click on any major component section.

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

Many of the responses will have a tab on the right that takes you to the Manuals for that machine.

2. See the Sears "Manage My Home" site.

http://www.managemyhome.com/

By clicking on the tab for manuals, you can enter the model number and get PDF versions of their customer manuals.

We bought ours in 2006 when they first came out. Paid a thousand dollars, my life savings. I trusted sears. The washer has been a nightmare every since and it is broken again. We are very angry with sears and want to start a class action law suit against them. I am researching ways to do this. Anyone interested in joining me

Inside the washing machine "tub" there is a black scummy ring at the top....can't get rid off. Seems like its a rubber ring that is disintegrated.

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

If you look at the section for the Agitator and Tub, you should see a part called the Tub Seal. This could be what is disintegrated.

See the following for how to remove the cabinet and Tub Ring in order to get to it.

Sears has part numbers for either the complete tub ring and gasket or just the gasket.

I have a kenmore heavy duty 70 series extra capacity plus. it's leaking water under the washer. How do i fix it?

Seethe Sears site sub-components for the agitator, basket and tub. It'spossible that one of the gaskets or seals has worn over time.

I'd also pull off the cabinet and check the hoses leading to and from the pump. It's also possible that the pump is leaking.

See the following for how to remove the cabinet.

When it starts a spin cycle it starts knocking noise. Very loud what is this noise.

Also see the Whirlpool / Kenmore installation and maintenance manual.

The first thing that I'd do is pull the cabinet and check the leveling springs and plate pads. These are designed to keep the tub from bouncing against the cabinet during the spin cycle.

Following is a description of how to remove the cabinet.

http://www.american-appliance.com/catalog/newsdesk_info.php?newsPath=16&newsdesk_id=137

The Sears diagram shows where the springs and pads are located.
