I had the same issue twice (2 diffrent devices) on LG Blue-ray HX-906 - stuck on "please wait" after switching it on. It turned out to be defective mainboard - main BGA chip (the one with black radiator) has some problem with connection to mainboard. Here is how to repair it:

- dismount the mainboard

- take off the radiator from the main chip

- put alluminium foil around the chip to avoid unnecessary heating up of other parts of PCB

- heat up the chip using air hotgun to about 200 celsius for about 5 minutes.

Mount everything in reverse order and enjoy

Hello. Just tried (5.02.2021) this heating and it really works. Most heating went under black "radiator" and just in case heated little everything. Just tried and no "please wait" anymore. THAKN YOU!

To enter safe mode, At boot start tapping F-8. Or, Unplug, while running, remove battery, plug in, reboot, a list should come up select safe mode with networking. The please wait then welcome and stays at welcome.

1. Try to boot your computer in Safe mode and run a full system virus scan with your anti-virus software, this may fix the problem. The system will boot in safe mode only if its not a major damage to the file. If the system is not booting in safe mode, then perform system restore. Click start>all programs>Accessories>System tools>System Restore. Restore computer to a date where it was working fine.
2. In case the system refuses to boot up at all, then it is recommended to run a repair setup of windows Xp. To run repair setup, boot the computer with Windows Xp bootable CD and on installation screen, press R for repair setup. Mother board driver issues

Don't panic. If you take the cover off the side of the computer and look at the motherboard you will find a jumper that says cmos. You can switch the jumper and wait a minute or so then switch it back and it will boot up its defaults. If you cant find the jumper just take the battery out of the motherboard and wait a couple minutes and then put it back in. that will do the same thing and it should boot up fine.
