You need to be using the TV's remote, not the Time Warner remote. You are reading the TV's manual to set it's remote, not the Time Warner remote. If you want the Time Warner remote to operate the TV, you will need to find the instructions that the Time Warner box/receiver provides and enter the TV's code.
Programming procedure is too much to type in here by this window, and is not practical. If you wish to get details; check the site linked here. It have set-up code list & set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. See it in "Mosaic" view. It will make surf easier. http://electrohelponline.blogspot.com/
Time Warner is most likely made by another company and they are not listed on the programming documentation. You can try looking online to see who makes your Time Warner box. You should be able to program the manufacture off of the program list. The universal code for this remote is 8107 and 8108 which may work as well. To program the remote press set and the light next to set will start flashing. Press the desired component button ex(TV , VCR, CBL, DVD). Next enter the code 8107 and press ENTER. The set light should no longer be flashing. If 8107 does not work try 8108 using the above info.
Hello,
I want to clairify you install, you sat you have I an HDMI cable running from the Time Warner Cable box to the AVR-589, going in to the TV/CBL input. From the Denon AVR-589, I have an HDMI cable running from the output to my Toshiba RV525U television.
Check the connection at the TV, if as you indicated above you have an HDMI cable from the HDMI out from the Denon to an HDMI output on the TV, if this is the case you need to have that HDMI cable plugged into an input on the TV not an output
