After initial problem sound but no picture I found and replaced a blown capacitor on the Z-sus board. When I turned it back on, there was still no picture, but I noticed one of the Chips not sure what they are actually called on the Ysus buffer board upper was glowing and smoking even I recognize this is a bad sign. I then sent in the Y-sus Buffer board to a repair service. It appears they replaced all 4 of the Chips and they said they tested the board in a working TV. Now I still get no picture, but I also don't seem to get the other functions although it is difficult to tell since it is not hooked up to any input except rabbit ears. Also, the Blue power light did not come on when I pressed the power button on the TV, but this blue light does briefly come on when I use the remote. Although I can't tell if anything is happening. Also, I get 5V from the standby pin on the power board. Any suggestions on what to trouble shoot next? I am trying to avoid just randomly replacing boards and some are very difficult to come by.
Make sure the power board are producing the correct voltages = or - 10 %. Look for domed electrolytic capacitors too. You can get repair kits and complete boards from here: TV Parts Universal TV Stands DLP Chips ShopJimmy
Testimonial: "Thanks - Thus far I have only checked the standby voltage to the main board. I also found this link with a tutorial to check the other voltages. The nice thing about this ink is that they are demo-ing it with the same Samson Plasma TV. https://youtu.be/GReg9cPDP-c Thanks again."
SOURCE: Samsung TV won't turn on- trying to fix it. A challenging problem
I had the same problem. I live in NJ and called the local authorized "service provide" listed on the Samsung website. What a joke. Quoted $350 just to show up, never showed up. So I opened my own TV. Took off the plastic back (10 screws) took off the large metal RF shield (12-14 screws) and noticed a blown component. The markings on the component were KL15L and it is apparently an NTC Thermistor. Obviously it got fried and not knowing if there was other damage I decided to set out to replace the entire Power PCB Board Assembly and not the component. There were two part numbers on the assembled board (BN97-00457E & BN94-00622E). After searching online I also found a suitable replacement number for these (BN96-04896A). I found two places who claimed to have the part or have it on order (shopjimmy.com and vancebaldwin.com). After placing orders with both and having neither come through, I broadened my search and found out that the LNR409D was basically the same model as my LNR408D so I looked for its Power PCB Board Assembly part number which turned out to be BN41-00521B. Google search for that part number showed the item available on ebay. I bought it a week ago (ebay 260311519904) for $144 plus $12 shipping. I removed the bad board an hour ago (6 screws about 7 connectors) installed the new one, plugged in the connectors, replaced the covers, plugged in the TV... AND IT WORKS!
Suggestion: If your TV is out of warranty then open it up (what have you got to lose) and see if the problem is obvious and maybe something you can fix (replace) yourself. The parts, spare boards, etc. are out there if you look.
SOURCE: samsung HP-R4262- has sound but no picture...
YOU SHOULD HAVE REPLACED THE Y-MAIN BOARD AT THE SAME TIME, NOW DON'T TURN IT BACK ON UNTIL YOU REPLACE THE Y-MAIN OR IT COULD TAKE OUT THE NEW Y-MAIN
SOURCE: I also have a samsung HP-R4252 that has sound but no picture
NEED REPLACED MAIN Y ASSY AND Y BUFFER UPPER ASSY AND Y LOWER BUFFER ASSY
SOURCE: SSP-R4232 Plasma TV, blue light on, but tv wont turn on.
At this point it appears that your main board is probably bad. You most likely have a 5 volt scource going to the main board but its not powering up the set. The main board is part number BN94-00796A.
You might want to have a technician look at the TV to verify this as the issue before purchasing it. Please take a few moments to rate my answer. Thank you.
