Horizontal lines on screen of sony tv

The problem is in the foil strips that connect the screen to the electronics try pressing softly on the bottom or top of the screen when its on if the lines go away, otherwise open it up and put pressure on the connection but something inbetween it , like cartboard its not the real solution but if it works its okay,than it schould be fixed.

Your LCD or Control Board is damaged. You can replace the LCD or the Board or have someone do it for you.

the ribbon flat connection tapes that connect the led panel driver to the panel have prob delaminated
this cant be repaired easily and you would need to replace the panel

I think you may have a tv tube problem...

I'm sorry, it sounds problem with lcd panel (screen) that is defective and causing lower half distorted image. If tv is under warranty then call number written on warranty documents for warranty cover or lcd panel (screen) replacement would cost you approx 80% of new tv price.

Seems T-Con board mounted at top center at rear of LCD Panel is bad.
Local TV tech will fix TV by replacing T-Con board.

sarge, it sounds like the vertical output IC went bad on you. If it was a bad connection or a bad capacitor, your picture would have been a straght line across the screen. They call the output section of the IC a push-pull type of amp, so the top half of the sweep IC went out. If you have had some soldering experience, and or experience with solid state repair, locating the bad IC and replacing it is no big deal. If you havent, stay safe and call in a pro to assist you in this repair, as there is alot of high voltage inside this puppy that is still present even if the set is unplugged. It should not cost an arm or a leg to repair this set. An honest repair on a set like this if you take it in should not exced 125 to 150 bucks. Good Luck PS Please dont forget to rate this thread.

The vertical circuit is going bad,this is the one in charge of opening the picture up and down,try taping on the side to see if the picture reacts ,if it does your set has a loose conection and the vertical IC will need to be resoldered only but if it does not react the IC will have to be replaced,if you are familiar with tv service this will give you a place to start but if you are not be safe and seek the help of a servicer,please let Us know how it goes.
