If you open the back, look at the can shaped items. If any of them have the tops bulged out, they need to be replaced. This should solve your picture problem, unless there is something else wrong. What is happening,is they are heating up,and the picture goes out.I bet the longer you have the TV off,the longer it stays on?Hope this helps.Thank You very much! Tyler

I don't know but I'm having a similar problem. I have a plasma
TH-50PZ77U. It will run for a while and then shuts off. Also, the volume goes up and up and then it shuts off at times. Like I have a ghost here. I had both of my sat. recievers replaced. It seems to get worse over time with shut down. I called panasonic and they had no info and denied this was an issue but I beg to differ from my research here online. It's only a few years and we paid lots of $$$. They gave me a # for service 1 hour away!

Hello,
The power supply board of the television is dead, u know basic electronics' and soldering? Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors. These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get your TV power stable, and work again.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.
I hope this will help in solving the problem....

Switch off TV, switch off power, remove plug and wait for 48 hours and retry.
If problem persists, I suggest it is better to refer it to a qualified service
technician, since the back cover has to be opened for investigation/rectification.
