Why won't my dynex tv stop changing channels?

Model# DX-37L-150A11 unplugged overnight,no change, holding menu button on set stops channel changing, but brings up the menu with options highlighting constantly

Just try a reset to this set, and check. If it do not help you, the main system control memory IC is faulty. Check and replace it. There are two types of reset to TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. one of two basic things here, unplug set to see if after a while it helps, and if channel scanning up or down on its own suspect the button associated with the direction it changes is a bad one.

Finally bought anRCA antenna for my new Dynex TV.Nothing no signal,no way to scan for channels I can see.AGGH.Is it a lemon?

Which Dynex TV do you have? The manuals for most Dynex TVs are available from the product page. Start at http://www.dynexproducts.com/products/televisions.html . If you have an older Dynex that isn't on the main list, check under Discontinued Products. Alternatively search for your model. Then click on the Support tab to find the manual for that model.

For at least one Dynex TV (DX-32L152A11), the procedure to scan for channels is below.
To scan for channels, first make sure that the current input is set to TV. (Press the input button on the TV or the remote). Then press Menu and use the left/right arrows to select TV. Then press Enter or down arrow (the manual says the right arrow). Use the up/down arrows to select the entry to change. First, make sure that the Tuner Mode (first item) is set to Air (use the left/right arrows to change this). Press Menu to go back to the TV menu. Then go down to Channel Scan and press Enter. You may need to confirm the channel scan and press Enter again. Wait for the scan to be completed.

On a discontinued model (DX-32L151A11), the procedure is slightly different. With the input set to TV, press Menu. Select the Channel submenu and press Enter or down arrow. Set the TV mode to Antenna (use the left/right arrows to change the value). Then press the up/down arrows to reach AutoScan. Press Enter. Move cursor to highlight Yes and press Enter again. Wait for the scan to be completed.

I have a dynex tv model number dx-L32-10a and the channels are going up really fast as soon as i turn the tv on and it will not stop! how do i fix it or is there a list of places that can repair it?

Take the batteries out of the remote, sounds stupid and obvious but its worth mentioning. If that doesn't stop it, try wiggling the CH UP button on the side of the TV to see if it is stuck in the depressed position.

If this fails there is probably an electrical short on the buttons on the side of the TV. Check to see if your in warranty or best buy protection plan coverage still. If not, see if you can have a local repair shop just disconnect the button panel and just rely on the remote. (not many people use those buttons anyway).

Have a DX-L40-10A, the TV no longer brodcasts in 1080p on our HD channels, only in 720p maximum. Have contacted our cable provider, Charter Communications and they say the issue is the TV. Is there a way...

Which cable box do you have? Is it Motorola or Scientific Atlanta?

If it is Motorola then press turn the power off then press the menu button. There should be a setting for ypbr output and use the left and or right arrow button on the remote to change this setting to 1080i

When the power is turned on, the screen stays black (nothing is displayed-totally dead). Then it won't turn back off unless I unplug it. The model is DX-LCD37. It doesn't matter if I use the pannel...

Had a very similar problem with mine - not sure if this will help or not, but it seems to be doing the trick (channels scanning as I type).
I unplugged the tv for about an hour. I unplugged the cable, and all the components. Then I turned the tv on, and was able to get to the menu screen. Previously, I couldn't change channels or even power off from the buttons on the side of the unit either...
Once there, I plugged the coaxial cable directly into the side of the set, then ran the auto-scan.
I know it's not a techincal answer, and a bit strange, but as I mentioned, it seems to be working for my issue.

Unplugged it for an hour.... buttons changed.....Unplugged it for four hours and everything worked......Left it plugged in overnight and back to original problem....

My remote will not work and the tv menu is on the screen and goes through all the diffrent setting options automatically without stopping. TV buttons will not control the menu. Unable to make any setting...

1# First unplug tv,unhook ant.let set overnight.2# Reconect ant.Plug back in.turn tv on with button on tv.let tv run trew all its modes for 5 to 6 hrs.Don`t push any buttons!!!!! It has to reset everything.then try remote,when it starts to work,set new pin code.use your instruction book,to set all blocks to N,,Clear all favorite channels + erase channels in tv 's memory if there in there yet,takes a lot of time.it will keep resetting,remote won't work.let it run awhile. then push exit, hold 5 to 10 seconds remote will eventually come back,check your settings reset them, be sure menu is set to STOP, it may start running threw all its modes again,let run couple hrs, then push exit 5 to 10 seconds to get your remote back.keep trying this. when you think the tv is working right,turn it off for 10 seconds then back on. If it starts resetting, let it run an hr,then push exit again to get your remote back,it has to reset everything,keep trying, took me 3DAYS to get it right!!!!!!!!! the only thing I don't have working is the pic size button,Don't need that anyway. Why does my RCA TV cycle through channels on its own?

this is the same type of problem happening with other rca models and I know it is the EPROM CHIP but why this is failing is either because of design flaw , dirty enviroment that they were made in , to much voltage or current to the chip or too much of a draw from the chip causing it to fail . Or even a random frequency from the IR sensor or its circut I'm still investigating and testing.
leave the tv unplugged for at least 3 weeks durring this time resolder any solder that don't look good , I did this and it lasted for about 6 months(always plugged in to the wall) before it started doing it again. model # 27v412t

What you have to do it go to the TV Menu and go to channel. Then go to channel scan and do one of those. THe problem is that is just doesnt know where to look for channels, but a quick scan will fix that.
