It also bogus when i accelerate an it only goes to 25mph what can i do
On the driver's side engine on top, there is round black fuel rail. In the middle is a nipple sticking up with a plastic cap screwed on(could be anywhere on the bar depending on year...but it's there). This is where you check fuel pressure. You can go to most auto stores like Advance and get a fuel pressure checker to borrow. Pressure should be around 39 or so at idle. Give or take.
If it's fine..I've seen a TON of Dodge's act like that because of a blocked Catalytic Converter. You can usually tell by not much exhaust coming out the back if your entire exhaust system is intact.
One way to tell if your engine is getting fuel is to turn the key but dont start it you should hear a buzz which indicates your engine is getting fuel if you dont hear the buzz you need new fuel pump. if you hear the buzz before it starts and are going only 25 check your transmission fluid make sure its not low and if its dirty change it asap it could fix your issue there, i could be wrong also but if you dont hear a buzz before you start your going to need new fuel pump and if youre doing this might as well change your fuel filter to. if it has to much dirt and is dirty you can lose pressure and your engine will run real lean.
Thanks for the suggustions I'll try the transmission oil first I'll let you know
yea some people think that their tranny is going when all it may need is to be taken care of and checked regularly make sure that if you check it it is hot that way you get a proper reading. you never want to overfill it. and if you change it change your oil too try to get a high mileage oil change so both the engine and tranny can have a clean start be sure to change your oil every 3 months or 3000 miles while checking it monthly also if the oil has dirt in it regaurdless of how long its been just change it to be safe that way the dirt can find its way out. if you want buy an extra quart of oil what you can do to assure all the dirt is gone is leave the bolt undone and flush the quart of oil it might be a waste but if there is grime and dirt residue it will help clear it out same for your transmission. since its starting to have major issues with catching speed baby the hell out of it and always remember if you get a flashing check engine light get it taken care of immediately this means one of your cylinders is misfiring allowing unburned fuel past and can mess up literally everything especially the motor and your exhaust system which is the heart lungs and intestines of a vehicle how long would a person have to live for example if their heart was skipping and didnt do anything about it. start monthly check ups to keep track of how you vehicle is running over all. sorry for the long reply i just had to many vehicles come and go because i didnt take the time out to do a checklist. sorry again hope everything works out in your favor
I have a 96 Dodge Ram 1500, I had a similar issue before and it was a leaky vacuum line and a dirty PCV valve. Changed the PCV valve and tracked down the vacuum leak and it's running much better.
