Try to print a document and see if you will be getting same issue. Try to copy a document and see if same thing will happen also. Check if the cartridges are not running out of ink.
Never used caaned air near a copier. A copier vacuum will **** out the toner. Canned air just makes the problem worse. When changing the drum unit did you change the drum blade ? Try running 50 blank pages to see if it clears up. Good luck.
First thing to consider is a toner getting low but it can be a drum, fuser (fixer) or transfer roller. If it repeats the grey at a certain interval it's likely a roller in the fuser/fixer, the drum (light sensitive coated roller is all it is) or a failing transfer roller (it charges to pull the toner image off the drum onto the paper and hold it till the heat of the fuser bonds it to the paper). Easiest and least wasteful, and what Brother would tell you to do first, is to replace the toner. If it doesnt correct it you still have the new toner to use once the problem is corrected. By virtue of it being fine except the end of the page sounds like toner. One way to figure it out definitively is send a page while the exit door is open. Watch and once half the page is out of the exit door open the toner door to stop the printing. It wont hurt anything but will allow you to see the end of the sheet before it goes to the fusing unit. Of course you need to be very careful removing the sheet to prevent damage to the fuser. If you get the grey on the bottom of the sheet during the half sheet test I mentioned then it's in the image creation and transfer, not the fuser/fixing stage. Replace the toner and try a full sheet. If corrected it was the toner. If not then the drum or transfer roller would be at fault. Drum is user replaceable and while expensive it's another item you can store back on the shelf till you need it if the new drum doesnt help.Transfer roller needs to be replaced by a service person. You could do it but you would need to have the section of a service manual to show you what to do.
This is usually due to a dirty imaging drum roller (green roller below toner). Remove the toner / drum assembly, then separate the two. Now slowly rotate the imaging drum roller by hand using the gear on the side of the cartridge (Try not to not touch the drum roller with your hand, as oils from your skin may cause further problems + toner is nasty) Look for toner splotches to the left and right on the drum roller as you turn it. If you see any you can clean them off with a damp paper towel. Then reassemble the printer and hold the continue button down until you hear the printer start then release it; this will print a test page.. Hopefully that will take care of the issue. Also while you got the assembly out of the printer you can clean the glass print-head lens using a clean, dry, and lint free cloth. The print head lense is located within the recessed area in the top of the printer.
- I have seen that happen to a bunch of those printers and that is usually all it is. Let me know if that takes care of it.
The only way to tell is to start a print and power off when print is still inside. If you see the ghost before the fuser it's the drum, if clean before the fuser, it's the fuser. You can also open the back door and look at the fuser roller with a light, the fuser roller should be clean but if the roller has images it's time for a fuser.
1.Charge – Print Quality (PQ) -- The charge roller evenly distributes a negative charge on the photoconductor (PC) drum. This evenly distributed charge acts as the film that is discharged (exposed) by the laser to create the latent image. a.Print Quality effected:Faint, Entire Blackbackground, GreyFog/Haze b.Parts Involved: i.Drum -- A drum cartridge is coated with a photoconductive material that allows electricity to pass when exposed to light. As an example of why this can be the failure, if you leave a drum out in light long enough, you will get dark backgrounds or just black pages. However, drums do wear out over time too; specifically the photo material the drum is coated with.As this degrades, more of the positive electricity on the inside of the drum gets through and grabs toner, as if the laser wrote to every square inch of it. A damaged or defective PC drum can cause black streaks/lines, voids, speckles and various other print quality problems. ii.Charge Roller –Also known as the BCR or Bias Charge Roll. The charge roller pulls double duty.It energizes the outside of the drum with negative energy and as a result it cleans any previous latent images. If the charge roller were failing to energize either due to the HVPS or the charge roller itself, it wouldn’t clean any previous unused toner deposits from the last revolution would start to accumulate and appear on paper more and more causing haze.A missing charge roller causes completely black pages.
iii.HVPS – High Voltage Power Supply -- Responsible for charging components such as the inside of the drum, the charge roller, and transfer roller. If the HVPS does not give enough to the charge roller it can fail in erasing the drum, causing entirely Black pages to be printed.
Every print job, copy, and fax have the solid black line across the pages. I have changed the drum and the cartridge and even tried cleaning mode. Please help!!! I have a HP Laser Jet 2840 All in One
Normally clearing the drum count the machine has to be on open front cover as if to change the drum press and hold the button in for about 10 second then release and shut the door. This should reset the count if not please get back to me and I'll check the service manual to see if anything in that.
Your almost there. Now you need to replace the 'Transfer Roller'. The transfer roller transfers the image from the drum onto the paper. If this roller is worn out all you'll get is blank pages printing out.
