Question about Hitachi 46F510 46" Projection HDTV
My son was watching tv late at night and the picture on the tv went blank and the power light next to the power button on the tv started to flash red. Like a cars blinker light. The next day I tried to turn on the tv same thing when you turn on the power the light flashes and nothing works I unhooked the power cord from the back tried to reset by waiting 30 seconds nothing. So I unplugged the tv for 24 hours and then replugged it back in and still the same thing. The power light flashes red and nothing else works. I have a Hitachi 46F510 projection TV and have a similar problem. I was watching TV late one night (11/16/07). I shut off the TV and cable box with the same remote. I turned it on again 5 minutes later. The cable box came on, but the TV did not, only the light for the power button came on, but not the TV. I had to manually depress the power button, but when I did the magic focus came on and I watched it cycle through the process. After the magic focus was done, I still had no picture. I depressed the power button again and now I get a picture, but no sound. When I shut the TV off the power button light should go off, but it does not. I have to unplug the TV from the surge protector.
The problem is a stuck relay

Good Day, you all;
The front panel light on Hitachi TV does not really tell you much. To see what the TV is doing or better said NOT doing is remove back from the set.
If you are not a technical type person, it would be better to consult an authorized service center, but if you are perform this; 1. Remove back
2. Observe led and notice which once light, there are as many as 9 LED's.
Now that will tell you what area of the TV's circuits are to be concerned about.
Let me know, Good Luck, big IRISH.

My Hitachi started having these problems. Now it won't turn off. You hit power off, it goes straight to the Magic Focus. Others reported this problem and it appears without getting it fixed, it's either a permament problem solved by purchasing a switch to turn it off (cut power from the outlet or surge) or unplugging for long periods of time. I don't know...I'm a bit disappointed. Had this for nearly 3.5 years but I don't want to spend hundreds just for that. I'll just by a manual switch from radio shack I suppose.
