please attempt to twist the top or the bottom of the flashlight off in order to open it and the batteries that you've mentioned. Otherwise, you can drop buy your local geeksquad/bestbuy to have a tech do the battery replacement for you.

In the early days of flashlights, the battery life was very short. So if you needed to use a flashlight, you would turn in on only for a second and then shut it off. Hence, the term flash-light.
