KDS-50A2000. What would cause the video to cycle on/off repeatedly: on for ~2 minutes, off ~45 seconds, etc.?
Problem started yesterday. Green light shows normal solid color. Red Replace Lamp light is off too. Video on/off cycling starts immediately after power on and continues non-stop. Image has taken on slightly green tint, similar to a dying lamp. Audio is unaffected.
Would have just replaced lamp, but wouldn't the red indicator LED light up?
Please help! Love this old set Sony replaced it with an LCD, to my surprise. Thanks.

Either the lamp is on it's way out or..... the lamp is incompatible because it is not a original one. (ie the same as what they fit in the sony factory)

Unhook the fan and see if the set works, it will work without the fan for testing purposes, chances are the fan is drawing to much current and is being shut down by the TV circuitry
Now that you have the blink code, Google your make and model with blink codes added to the end. This will show you links to sites that will tell you what the nine blinks mean.
It could be your optical processor, Sony knows they have issues with these. Unplugg the set and let it sit for 1-2 hours then if the issue remains you will need to replace optical pro. Call sony they know about this issue and might comp you the part
Bulb was replaced within a year. That the first thing to replaced. The Ballast board is dead, you hear alot of clickings too?The Ballast board, that the board help to ignite the projection lamp.
I have the same problem with my unit. I've been removing the bulb and just replace it back and unit will work again. I probably need to vacuum or check the fan out too.
I'm having the exact same problem, just started yesterday. I'm eager to see if anyone has any ideas. I spoke to sony via live chat and they werent much help.
