That is Failed Lock. If the door is not completely shut and the lock can not engage after several attempt you will get this code.

The door interlock could be faulty. The only way to open the door if the door interlock is faulty is to remove the top of the machine, after turning it off at the wall and pulling the plug out of the socket, and locate the door interlock from the inside. There should be a metal "slide" which can moved back to release the door catch. The interlock could be warped from getting hot, which will make the slide almost impossible to move. Remove screws holding the interlock from the front panel and from the inside pry the interlock from the catch. Replace interlock.

SOURCE: Door will not lock

Faulty Latch ,, i would order and replace the latch assy, you acess the latch by removingthe 4 screws in the dispensor assy, the n remove the door, andthe 2 screws opposit teh door hinge. then the front "u shaped" panel will come off and then just 2 5/16" screws on either side will release the main top assembly allowing you to tip it backwards and gaining acess to the latch assy

SOURCE: Maytag Neptune washer error FL

Hello,

There is a manual door release tab in the dispenser area. You have to take the screws out and remove the dispenser to pull the tab and release the door. This is a pretty common issue, if you haven't yet you should contact your Maytag authorized dealer and ask about a more permanent solution. Hope you can get your clothes out.

Thanks

Maytag Neptune code fl shows on display

The FL code indicates that the door failed to lock when you closed it. Try opening and closing the washer door again. Make sure that there is nothing in the door area that could block the latch or keep the door ajar. If the error recurs, the latch may be faulty.

If the door is actually locked and giving the FL code, the latch has a problem. You can try power-cycling the washer (unplug for a while) or setting the washer to pump the water out. If these steps don't help, you need to order a replacement latch assembly. Depending on your washer model, you may have a manual pull cord to unlock the door. Look under the bleach and fabric softener compartments after opening the dispenser..

I hope this helps. If your washer is under warranty, contact Maytag. Otherwise post a comment with the model number of your machine for a source for a replacement latch assembly.

Door lock mechanism

I had this problem also with my Maytag Neptune TL. The door lock would click muptiple times before displaying the FL code. I was able to fix this by removing the left door look(the one with the door close sensor) and cleaning the 2 metal pones on top of the left door mechanism, which had rusted and no longer was able to since the door closed. I use a nail file i sure eaither that or sandpaper will do. After that it went through the whole cylce without stopping or displaying the "FL" code.......hope this helps
