SOURCE: can't print pdf's from adobe reader 8.x

Hello romdos. This forum"FIXYA" takes a dim view of peple like me who try to help people. Unless the help I provide is ironclad perfect advice. But they can kick my "rating' of expertise down a notch or two. I prefer helping folks if I can. :-) I see two potential problems with your scenario. First, Adobe Reader 8 is so far been notoriously problematic as they basically pushed out this new version with a smile on their face saying "they will find a way it work" referring basically to the rest of the world's app and software providers. Second, and you may be ahead of me on this, The Canon 2200 is .....well..... right their on the cusp of being called old.3 years is almost an eternity when it comes t technology. But Canon it great about maintaining support as far as updating their print drivers The possible sticking point is the part that requires a technician to come in and hook his laptop up and updating the FIRMWARE on the device itself. This, as you may know,is the instruction set the copier uses to interpret the commands and data it recieves, and to accurately respond to those commands. As new applications arise and commands and requests are made that no software engineer could have possibly anticipated when the copier was introduced to market , a service tech must go in and "flash" (reprogram) the copier so it knows how to handle/respond data and commands that could never have been anticipated. So we have new versions of programs, new potential capabilities, new drivers that should be loaded by the end user, and the distinct possibility that a technician may need to install a new operational program that gives the copier definitions and answers to questions that did not exist mere months ago. The answer to your question, Im afraid is not simple. If you choose to critique my answer to you question I encourage you to be honest, but leave mu nuts in tact .I have told you the truth, but I could not "fixya". But I bet I explaimed the big picture better than alot of these knottheads who cherry pick customer's question to make sure they get a good grade. I just hope I heped ya. Take care..........SPINAL.........

SOURCE: Canon MP620 Wireless All-In-One can't print to it

Hi
I had exactly the same problem. Here is how I solved it.

I deleted all the previously installed items (although this might not actually be necessary). Then I re-installed using the 'Easy Instal' option from the CD.

The CRUCIAL part is this: - after you have tested your connection to the printer - and it is all fine - another box should appear with a MAC address for the Scan Twain. Highlight the string of numbers and click APPLY.

THEN THE MOST IMPORTANT BIT - look at page 54 in the set-up guide. And follow the instructions which are:

When the printer utility opens click ADD - then go to 'more printers' select the MP620 with the string of numbers after it. This is the one you want NOT the one that appears automatically when you complete the installation.

make this printer your default and away you go! That should work as it has for me and i have been pulling my hair out on this for about 3 weeks!

SOURCE: printer keeps printing same document so i can not delete it

You have to erase it from it's memory. If you have already tried to cancel it via your pc and it didn't work, try this: turn off the printer. Entirely, from the wall socket. Turn off your computer. Then turn them on again. Both the computer and your printer should erase the document from their memory, so it will stop the printing.

Why does adobe hang

Not sure what you mean by "Hang" but I have a problem on my mac printing from anything due to Acrobat. At least once a week I have to go into the hidden Library (on the desktop to to menu and Find, while that menu is open, hold down the Option key and the hidden Library should appear) then go to Preferences and delete the com.apple Acrobat preference and restart. Not sure if this is your problem, but it could help.

I don't know how it gets hung up or corrupt, but doing this helps me print more consistently.

Can't print pdf documents- I get a message that I must install printer. I am able to print other word docs, just not pdf.

It could be your adobe acrobat reader responsible for PDF documents

If you can print using other applications definitely it has nothing to do with printer.

Try downloading latest version of acrobat reader from adobe website.
Unintstall the acrobat reader software from your PC in ARP (add remove programs)

reinstall the latest version of adobe acrobat reader

Try links below it may help you too

I want to print pdf files but the mesage "unable to start print job. Is printer available?" apeares. i have adobe acrobat 8 . i can print this document with another computer with the same adobe...

go to start...
control panel...
printers and hardware (or something like that where your printer is listed.)

Double click on your printer and the document queue window opens

Now go to file, right click and check if the 'use printer offline' mode is checked. Uncheck that and you should be good to go.

Otherwise there could be a problem in the USB port of that computer. Try and connect the printer directly to USB and not through an extension.

Just installed adobe acrobat 6.0. Whenever it try to convert a word file into PDF it says, there is a problem and has to run in 'repair' mode. It then instructs me to restart the computer once it has...

May be your converter is first trying to locate some specific version of Acrobat Reader and then do the conversion and Acrobat 6 might not be the required version.

You can try PDF printer and you just have to do print of any word file and it will print the file and save in form of pdf document

can try one such printer http://www.bullzip.com/products/pdf/info.php

WHEN I AM TRYING TO PRINT THE PDF FILE , I AM GETTING DIFFERENT MARGINS COMPARED TO ORIGINAL PDF FILE.SOME PRINTER IT IS ACTUAL AND SOME PRINTER IT IS DIFFERENT.HOW TO RECTIFY SUCH PROBLEM.KINDLY...

Acrobat reader scales pages on printing, depending on the printer and its driver. By default, Acrobat Reader will use one of the scaling options.
Before printing the PDF document be sure that you select the right kind of paper size such as A4, Letter and B5 which will be printed. Paper size is defined in the Document Setup dialog box for the document.
To print the document without different margin problem:
- Open the Acrobat Reader’s Print dialog box (Choose File > Print).
- Choose “None” from the “Page Scaling” drop-down list. (It will not change until you change it again).
- Then click “OK” to print the document.
This may solve your problem.

Will not print adobe documents, prints other documents, please advise

This is assuming you mean Adobe Acrobat:

I have worked in a University and now work in a large state agency and have found that this can occur when people accidentally print to document instead of to a printer. I know it sounds silly, but please give it a go:

  • Try using the print icon print.jpg on the Acrobat tool bar (rather than your browser's print function). On the print dialog box that appears, make sure that the option to "Print to file" is unchecked.
  • If print icon is grayed out, it may mean that the document's security prevents printing.
If this does not work, please give me some additional information (such as which product/version you are using and what kind of document you are trying to print) and I will try my best to assist.

Hope this helps.

HP C6180 will not print a PDF document, causes paper jam.

The problem is an incompatibility between Adobe Acrobat and HP Photosoft software... the solution is to stop using Adobe Acrobat software as your primary PDF reader... to see why and what is the alternative continue reading...

I had several Windows XP laptop/netbook/desktops running on my home wireless network perfectly. Then I had to replace the desktop with Windows Vista, and that's where the problems started. Despite updating the HP driver software, the Photosmart printer would not work with the Vista machine unless it was physically connected through the USB port. But this solution created a new problem with the wireless XP machines, they would now cause a print jam every time I printed a PDF. I had Acrobat Reader on one machine and Acrobat Pro on the other. Any other file format would print fine... I could print a PDF from within Adobe Photoshop... and re-installing the old HP driver software eliminated the problem (but then the Vista machine wouldn't print anything)... thus the problem had to be Acrobat.

With the newest updated HP software in place I uninstalled Acrobat Reader and installed a freeware readers. THE PROBLEM WAS SOLVED. I tested three and all printed PDFs to the HP Photosmart printer with no problem. I tried Adobe Acrobat again, and it jammed. These freeware PDF readers are all small and fast compared to Acrobat which is big, bloated, and slow.

My suggestion is to use Foxit, which is the easiest and fastest, and seemes to work as a plugin with all the browsers (IE, Firefox, Chrome). You can get it from trusted sites like CNET ( http://download.cnet.com/Foxit-Reader/3000-10743_4-10313206.html ) or from the company ( http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/reader/ ).

BTW, I do maintain Acrobat Pro on one machine because of the advanced features I use, but I configured it to not be the default PDF reader and print through Foxit on my home network.

By the way, ANYONE WHO SUGGESTS CONTACTING HP SUPPORT ABOUT PRINTERS THIS OLD IS BEING LAZY OR NOT PAYING ATTENTION... HP WON'T HELP UNLESS YOU PAY FOR THE INCIDENT, AND THEN THEY TELL YOU TO DO THE OBVIOUS (i.e., install new drivers) WHICH DOESN'T WORK, WHEREUPON THEY WILL SAY IT'S NOT AN HP PROBLEM BUT THE "OTHER GUYS" PROBLEM. Many people have played this game with HP before so don't waste your time and money expecting a different result.
