Turn it on. it beeps, all the lights turn on for a second then go out. the horn works.not the chair.

the amount of flashing lights will give you a Flash code. If the the lights are going up and down, you may have a locked joystick. one method is to turn on and (within 10 sec.) push the horn button twice. Push the power button then push the joystick forward until there is a beep sound then back until you hear a beep sound to unlock.

You are in locked mode. try turning the joystick on and pushing the horn twice. or if that did not work try turning the joystick on and pushing gimbal forward until it beeps and then back until it beeps. should be unlocked, scrolling up and down will stop and you can drive.

Turn on Joystick and push horn twice, you are in locked mode. If this didn't work then turn Joystick on push gimbal forward until you hear a beep, then move the gimbal back until it beeps you are now unlocked. Gimbal= what you push to go left right forward or back on a joystick.

If it is the older VSI controller, turn on chair. as the battery lights scroll, hold the joystick in the (UP) position until you hear a beep. Then immediately place the joystick in the (down) position until you hear a beep. then place the joystick in center position, once you hear the beep for the final time, it should be unlocked.

If you have a Dynamic controller, turn on chair then press the horn button to unlock.

Bob why don't you run a small 2 wire cable from one battery to the armrest where your joystick is located and attach the new horn and a small push button switch to the joystick bracket coming from under the armrest. loosen the knob tightening the joystick bar and pull it out enough for you to attach the horn and button to it. I 'm not sure if that will work because I don't know what the new horn looks like but you can also mount the horn under the shroud near the battery and run the wire to the switch at the joystick. The jazzy probably has a VSI controller and if it is sleep mode then the lights will scroll rather than blink. Now turn on the chair and see if the blinks have a pause between them, ie 4 blinks pause 4 blinks pause etc If they do count the number of blinks and this will give you the error code ie 4 blinks right motor 3 blinks left motor your owners manual should have a chart listing the error codes If not you can contact Pride tech support @ 1-800-800-8586 ask for jazzy tech support

LOCKING/UNLOCKING THE VSI

The VSI has a feature that enables you to lock your power chair to prevent

unauthorized use.

To lock the VSI:

1. With the VSI powered on, press and hold the on/off key. After one (1)

second, the VSI should beep.

2. Release the on/off key.

3. Push the joystick to the full forward position until the VSI beeps.

4. Pull the joystick to the full rearward position until the VSI beeps.

5. Release the joystick. There should be a long beep.

6. The VSI is now locked.

To unlock the VSI:

1. Press the on/off key and power on the VSI. The maximum speed/profile
indicator should ripple side to side.

anti theft. while the lights are flashing, hit the horn button twice.

I just had the same problem with my uncle's power chair. The number of "blinks" indicates a problem code to the technicians. My chair needed the joystick control assembly replaced. Once replaced, evrything was back to normal. 'Not a cheap fix but much needed. Good luck my friend!!
