What Android version do you have? Its important, because version 5 I believe, they made it a read only. You may need to root the device in order to get the xsd card fully functional.you can find this info under settings/about, and scroll to the bottom

Given this tablet's quad core processor then the 1Gb of RAM and the 16Gb of storage, may be enough to write a book with an appropriate word processor package for Android, but you would probably be safer if you used a fairly large SD card (e 32Gb) to boost the storage, or to keep specifically for the book.
