Is there another device that pulls the email from the server? If you use pop3 to get mail, it can pull the mail from the server. If you do, you can set it to leave the mail on the server for 14 days or till the email is deleted. Then the phone will see email.
With web mail, any device should see the same mail. I prefer an email client (Thunderbird, with the 14-day setting) over web mail, so it's easy to bounce between messages.
