I have an issue where my Samsung Plasma TV will randomly go black while sound will continue. The TV is not turning off as indicated by the front LED, but rather the screen just stops displaying video. It does not happen often, but it does continue to happen. I have replaced the Y Main board and Top and Bottom Y Scan Boards. Unfortunately, while the new parts work, the old problem still persists. Do you have a recommendation on the next parts to try and replace.

Ok, There are well three boards in this set that would influence such a
behavior. The culprit is the Key Pad Board. It has what is called a
leaky switch. This then locks up the Microprocessor. This will result
in the set operating like a ghost has the remote.

SOURCE: Screen goes completely out.
when it blanks out, tuen the lights out in the room, and shine a flash light at the screen, see if you can see the picture, if you can, it is the inverter moard blamking out, thats the board that lights the back lights, if you cant, hit the input button on the remote, if the TV comes back with a picture, it is a problem with the main board, in paticular the componant input on the main board

You need to do some more diagnosing of the problem. If you get sound and change channels take a bright flashlight and place it again the screen. Look for an image around the edge of the flashlight.
If you see an image that means the LCD controller board (TCON) is probably good.
The problem is probably one of three causes;
1) Inverter board is bad
2) CCFT (cold cathode fluorescent light) are bad.
3) Power to the inverter board is bad. You can also check the connectors.

One of your transformers on the inverter board are failing to sustain regulated power to the florescent lamps resulting in a dark picture. Also check the SMD fuses on the inverter board(s) see if they have blown. You will need a continuity meter to check them. You can get one from radio shack and be sure to get one with audible sound....you don't have to replace boards when you can fix them.

That of course if all boards have been replaced leaves only a defect that is inside the display panel (front screen unit) which is fatal from a cost point of view----unless one of the boards replaced already is bad.
