How can I start faxing?

Set rings to answer
You can select the number of rings that will occur before the fax answers an incoming call. If you are using your machine as both a telephone and a fax machine, we suggest you set the ring count to at least 4 to give you time to answer.
TIP: HP 1050 Fax: The Toll Saver function for the Digital Message Center interacts with Rings to Answer. See Toll Saver on page 40. If you have the HP 1050 Fax and have Toll Saver turned on, set the Rings to Answer to 2.
1. Press Menu repeatedly until BASIC FAX displays and press Start/Enter.
Rings to Answer will display.
2. Press Start/Enter.
3. Enter the number of rings you want (2-7) and press Start/Enter.
The HP Fax rings the set number of times and then answers. It then produces a different sounding ring to alert you to which type of call is incoming.
• The additional ring may occur once for a fax call
• The additional ring occurs 5 times for a voice call. After the 5 additional rings, the answering machine will answer.

Do you hit Start after typing in the number? You have to hit the Start button (the green button on the right hand side) in order to send the fax once you've input the destination.

1) did you dial correctly?
2) are you in an office or in your own home?

a) if you are in an office, you may have to dial a 9 or someother number to dial out before you can type in your original fax number.

b) if you are in your home, then its a number of things: Fax machine not connected with phone lines properly is one big supect. Check your phone cables to make sure that the fax machine is properly connected.

Well it depends on your fax machine. If its a new version type, you should be able to simply put in the pages to be faxed, and dial the number and it sends it - and if its a long fax, then you can just leave once the fax machine starts to operate. New faxes also allow your to send and receive color faxes, rather than just black and white - pretty sweet. If its an old one, you will probably have to wait for a dial tone. When it makes a ring sound, manually start the transmission, etc, etc. Also, if people send you a fax its also very hard because they will have to do it manually too (even if they're using a new fax machine model). Changing the Fax Configuration

1 Click Start/Programs or All Programs/Accessories/ Communications/ Fax, and then click Fax Console.
2 In Fax Console, click Configure Fax on the Tools menu to start the Fax Configuration
Wizard.
3. On the Transmitting Subscriber Identification (TSID) screen, type the identification information (usually your fax number and your name or business name) in the TSID box. This information will appear in the header area of the faxes you send and identifies your
fax machine to the person who receives your faxes.

change the mode from TAD to F/T by pressing mode button on panel

Type in the first fax number, then hit the Enter key (the check mark), then type in the next number, hit the Enter key, and so on until you've gotten all of your numbers entered. Then hit Start Fax.

For a one time action
Press the first one touch number
Press Set
Press the second one touch number
Press Set
etc, etc.
set
When all numbers are entered, put the document in and press START

To permanently set up a GROUP
Press 73 SET
Select GROUP
press the stations you want to be in the
group one after another
press PROGRAM 1 key
Name the group
press set.

put fax to send in top, type in fax number press Start/Send button
