Okay, so this is not my PC, it's for my dad. So it has been working lately it runs Windows 7 64 Bit Home Premium. All of a sudden today it said that we should insert boot media into the PC. Maybe the hard drive is dead or maybe it is the BIOS that was set incorrectly. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to fix it? Thanks. P.S If there is the need to install another one without formatting the OS, please let me know. Thanks.
Win 7 says this when it cant see a hard drive or theres a disk inserted in its drive that's not an OS disk when starting up , this is changeable in the BIOS start up que if you like , it will also tell you if it sees a HD too in that same list most Bios can be accessed if one holds down the F1 key when booting then following the prompts , it is all text based so the mouse might not work in this mode , keyboard arrow keys do or should get you to where you want to go to
BIOS settings usually don't change unless something happened to the battery. The hard drive has most likely failed.
