First of all, make sure that your tablet has an On the go USB port or data port if not, it can only be used to charge. If you connect our tablet to a computer usb port, and your computer recognises it, then you have a data port.
If you plug in a usb memory stick, and your computer can not read it, it does not have a USB to go port.
Also, some Cable adapters are On the Go wired, and may not work properly.
It may also be that the USB port is not providing enough power from the tablet to the keyboard. In that case, buy a split power usb cable, and plug the red (power only) into a usb charger or powered usb hub.
The OTG adapter is not guaranteed to work with all tablets, or peripherals. It has to be enabled by the manufacturer. having said that, If the supplied keyboard doesn't work directly, then It sounds like the tablet, or keyboard, is busted.
