COMPAQ 272776-001 Power Supply 200W
They all do, I believe, I installed a new one, into my computer system not long ago, are you sure your power supply is one that the computer can handle? You shouldn't have that much of a problem - I wouldn't go pulling apart the wires on the power supply, its made like that for a reason, what you could try is see if your power supply has seated properly, sometimes if your not working on a flat surface the power supply plug won't go in properly and will not be pushed in all of the way, try laying your computer on its side, and pushing in the plug also, each motherboard has a certain amount of plugs for example 20 and 24, some motherboards want it to be a 20 power plug and others want it to be 24 power plug, thats the plug thats connected to your motherboard, that I'm talking about. make sure you have the right number, and that the motherboard plug and the power supply plug match, basically have the same number of connectors, (I mean that little white plug at the end of the red, yellow, black, wires, I hope this helps. ps- I really had to push on the white plug to get my seated properly
