I accidentally locked my cursor. I'm in Word. I leaned (unwittingly) on my built-in mousepad, the little light in the NW corner of the "mousepad" went on, and locked the cursor. How do I unlock it?

Whats the model of your laptop, it may have a button combination to unlock the mouse, or even a single button that locks / unlocks it.

You could always plug an external USB mouse into it in the meantime.

Laptop mousepad doesn't work correctly

If it is a new Laptop then I'll not suggest you to open it for cleaning because you'll void the warranty period. You can check for the latest touch pad driver and update it once. it may help you.

Cursor stuck

If the mouse cursor is stuck, try looking for the mousepad toggle. Most models of notbooks have one or two ways to toggle the mousepad off. They are generally either a button right above the mousepad or a function key.

Look for a button that has two icons that appear to be mousepads, one with a line through it. If you press it (You might have to hold the Fn key located in the lower left corner if it is a function key), it should toggle the mouse back on if it was disabled in this manner.

If this doesn't fix the issue, try pressing the windows key to see if it pulls up the start menu. If so, try navigating to restart to see if that fixes the problem.

Lastly you can also try navigating to the device manager to see if the mouse drivers are missing etc. To do that press the windows key, navigate over to computer and press the alternate menu (directly left of the right Ctrl key) and choose properties. Use the tab key to navigate to the hardware / device manager tab. Once there look for the mouse driver.

If that doesn't help please post your laptop model, version of windows and any other relevant information you can think of.

Please leave feedback if this was helpful. Thanks.

Have managed to lock my mouse pad? how do i unlock it?

If you accidentally lock the mousepad. Press FN and F6 at the same time to unlock. You should see a pop up window on the lower right hand corner. Pop up window should be square, if you can see a square with a slash on it. Press FN and F6 again. If you cant see the pop up window. Uninstall and reinstall lenovo energy management and try again the function key.

My cursor jumps when i am writting a text

The keyboard is built in a way so that it is easy to accidentally tap the mousepad while you are typing. This will make your cursor jump., if you are using an external mouse, make sure to turn off the mousepad to avoid this issue by holding Fn and pushing the F7 button.
