I notice it has an RCA subwoofer output. i put an adapter on the wires and plugged it in but it did nothing. is it possible to use that output instead of the bare wire clips? if so, how?

The subwoofer jack might be switched off. Have a look under the menu of the system to see if it is off.

Can i put an extra sub woofer on my lg da3525 via the woofer out socket and what plug do i require to do this

Hi,

How to Connect 2 Subwoofers to One Receiver

Subwoofers produce the deep bass sounds that give home theater the realism of being at the movies. A good subwoofer can rattle the walls during action sequences, while adding depth to recorded music and a heightened sense of feeling in the midst of a televised sporting event. Because most home theater receivers are equipped with a single subwoofer jack, connecting a second subwoofer requires a simple audio adapter available at electronics stores. Self-powered subwoofers have their own built-in amplifiers to drive the bass speakers, so they cannot drain power on the main receiver in a system and thus pose no danger to the equipment, even when an extra subwoofer is connected.

Things You'll Need:

Home theater receiver
Y-adapter with RCA jacks on two ends and an RCA plug on the other, available at electronics stores.
2 RCA subwoofer cables
2 subwoofers

Instructions

Plug the Y-adapter into the home theater receiver's "Subwoofer OUT" jack.

Connect an RCA subwoofer cable to each jack on the Y adapter and route the cables to the subwoofers in the room. Because subwoofers deliver an omnidirectional sound, the boxes can be placed anywhere they won't get in the way, but within reach of an electrical outlet..

Plug an RCA cable into the "Sub IN" jack on the back of each subwoofer.

Connect the subwoofers to wall outlets and turn on each unit by pressing the power button, typically located on the back panel.

Adjust the volume and crossover settings on each subwoofer as desired. The crossover adjustment knob tells the subwppfer which low-end frequencies to reproduce from the audio signal, such as a movie on DVD. All frequencies higher than the crossover setting will be transferred to the other speakers connected to the receiver.

Tips & Warnings

Use subwoofers that are closely matched in power, as rated in watts, when using two subwoofers in a home theater setup.

Disconnect the subwoofers from the power supply while making the audio connections.

Have a nice day...

LED lights up but! ???

Sounds like there is a problem with the amp. Try switching the inputs around for that output on the amp. If that does not help, Yes I would have to say that there is a problem with the amp output circuit.

What kind of wire do I need to connect the subwoofer to the av-d58? The subwoofer is the same that came with the receiver but I have somehow misplaced the connection wire.

Without knowing more about the subwoofer (powered, passive, what kind(s) of input it takes, I have to take a wild guess. Most powered subwoofers use the old standard RCA cable. I there are two jacks on the sub for Left and Right input you just get an adapter to make the cable plug into two jacks.

I need the audio cable that hooks the dvd/vcr player to the subwoofer

your player output is RCA connection and your subwoofer since you didn't mention it i think its a mini jack connector or BB plug connector...so you have to costumize for that cable... or u will buy a RCA cable in the market then buy a coonector that will convert your BB plug in your subwoofer to RCA... i

what i mean is this... from your player put a RCA coonecotr it is 2 wires in your subwoofer its output is BB plug so you have to buy a connector that will make your BB plug become a RCA male...in your RCA cable from your player its output is RCA male so again convert it to RCA female connector to so that you can connect it

HOW DO I PLUG UP THE SUBWOOFER TO AMPLIFIER

On the back of the amp, there should be a jack with the name "SUBWOOFER PRE OUT". It is a standard RCA jack, but it only puts out a line output, meaning only self-powered subwoofers will work with it. Usually, if the subwoofer does not have an amp, it will have 2 imputs and 2 outputs. You plug the two left and right inputs into the front speaker jack on the amp, and then plug the front speakers into the left and right amp on the subwoofer.

Connecting Powered Subwoofer to a Receiver

you will need a line-level converter to use this subwoofer- it is a rectangular-shaped box with wires coming out on one end and red-and-white RCA plugs one the other. The end with the wires coming out will hook to the receiver, and the other end will need to plug into the sub.

Speaker wire for subwoofer

Usually, a subwoofer will have its own built-in power amplifier. Thus, it will be designed to plug into a standard RCA jack (the type used for DVD players, etc). rather than having wires to connect to a speaker terminal block. Look for a jack on the back of the receiver called "Subwoofer", or simply "SW". If your subwoofer has 2 single wires, it WON'T work with your reveiver's subwoofer output, as this output only carries a line-level signal and is not amplified. You would need a separate power amplifier for this type of SW. If your SW speaker has a DVD-type plug, it should work fine with the receiver's SW output jack.

Connect powered subwoofer

  • If your receiver has a dedicated subwoofer line level output, we recommend connecting your subwoofer to this jack. Most receivers will have just one (mono) subwoofer output, while quite a few subs require two inputs. You can use an RCA "Y" adapter cord , which is a cable with one female RCA jack at one end, and two male RCA plugs at the other. Some receivers require menu settings (such as "sub-on" or "front speakers-small") that must be made before the sub output will be active.
