SOURCE: help solve my dryer will not dry my clothes what can i do?

LONG dry time is an indication of a clogged or restricted exhaust. Clogged or restricted exhaust is the primary cause of failure in all residential dryers. Blowing the the system with a shop vac is only a temporary solution. The system needs to be cleaned (2 to 3 times per year) with a rotary brush to scrape lint collecting from the sides of the pipe. Suggest going to Lowes and purchasing vent cleaning kit. Read instructions CAREFULLY. Also consider replacing flexible plastic or foil pipe with rigid metal type. Dryer will vent 30% to 40% better. If condition persists for too long, a high limit fuse mounted on the heater will open causing the heater to no longer operate.

SOURCE: Maytag Dryer Working Fine Stops Working

Take off the top of the dryer and you will find somewhere near or at the drum a fuse. Try bypassing it first to see if it works. If so, go get one for about $10.00. There may be a wire that has burned off at the connection in the back of the dryer also.

SOURCE: My Maytag dryer won't dry clothes.

Pull the dryer out away from the wall. Unhook the vent from the dryercompletely. Do not put anything over the dryer exhaust on the back ofthe dryer. Do a normal load with the vent unhooked. If it dries betteror ok like this then the problem is in the dryer venting. Like ablocked vent pipe or a smashed or restricted vent hose.
If the vent doesn't make a difference, then check the blower wheel for excessive lint build up, check thatthere isn't anything stuck to the air intake baffle inside the drum,(i.e. the screen on the back wall of the dryer when looking into thedrum). Check the lint filter chute for blockage. Check that the heatingelement isn't shorted to ground. Check the exhaust temperature of the dryer. A meat or pocket thermomter can be used for this. It should cycle between 120 degrees and 160 degrees. Check that the drum seals are not worn out.

SOURCE: Maytag Atlantis MDG8400AWW Dryer Runs Cool

I had a similar problem years back. It was the ignitor. The ignitor is a ceramic like piece that heats up (glows red) that ignites the gas. Typically when that goes, you will see some white residue build up where it cracked, thus breaking the electrical connection. This thing works like a heating element on an electric stove, but rougher looking.

The part was about $30 at my local parts store. I bought an extra one just in case so I have it on hand. I installed it with common tools.

You can check it to see if you lost connection by using a volt meter.

Good luck.

Maytag model #: med5770tq0 won't dry. Please help

Dear Emily.
Several problems.
First, did this dryer ever work properly hooked up as it is?
I mean hooked to the roof event?
If it used to work just fine, then I suspect the vent to the roof is clogged with lint and is not allowing the heat to escape.
If it never did work right,(for example: it is new to us) then I'd venture dryers are not supposed to vent their hot air that far away, they do not have a strong enough blower to push that air that distance.
Then, you might try to find another place to vent the hot air, with a total distance of only 10 feet from the dryer, even if you only vented it while you were actually drying clothers.
I doubt if the last item is for you, but I have sometimes seen where the washing machine did not spin all the water out of the clothes, and then the dryer needed all day to get the clothes dry.
Be blessed.

Hot Point Dryer won't dry, gets hot on top.

An educated guess would be either the lint tube or the tube that exhausts the air outside is blocked with lint----no airflow or greatly reduced flow will cause this symptom.
