SOURCE: tape rack stayed open

I just experienced the same problem, but it took me 10 minutes to get it working again. When you look inside the tape rack, you see on the left side in the middle a little mechanical arm which you can press down for about 1cm when you release it again the rack opens completely Good luck Robert

SOURCE: Panasonic AG-1980

most likely problem is a dirty or defective mode switch. this switch tells the internal computer what position the mechanism is in. if the switch is bad, the computer is "confused."

SOURCE: the camera rejects the tape, I canĀ“t get it in

Have you tried a different tape? are you going from outside to inside? might have condensation just let it sit for an hour.

SOURCE: my VHS is not reading the tape

Take the top cover off & have a look on the right hand side of the deck when your tape is playing. Is the tape riding up when it meets the pinch roller ( a small black roller on the right side)? If so the roller is either dirty or worn & would need to be replaced, this will cause your tape to crinckle & damage the tape.

Why does my tape reject just after inserting?

Generally some part of the mechanism has become damaged and so can't perform correctly. It can't even unload correctly. You have to look around for plastic parts that have either got broken or out of place. New parts then need to be ordered. You will also need a service manual to set up the mechanism correctly once it is fixed. VCR's are rarely set up in the eject mode!

When I put inthe video into the video it at once reject it..

Reset if exists will not help---if machine instantly ejects the tape there is a problem in the mechanism.

A look inside with top cover removed will likely reveal tape is not going all the way down or not being pulled out of the cassette and the machine will sense this and kick the tape back out.

Most common cause for this a bad loading belt or something in the mechanism that is not moving.

It can be a do it your self fix if a belt etc.

Tape stuck in VCR, won't eject.

you posted 2 different problems here...
to answer this one ". The tape is stuck, won't eject and I'd like to get it out without damaging the VCR unit."...open unit, find motor that moves tape ejector and spin that motor by hand (power off)

the other problem, "the VCR will not insert a tape. It keeps rejecting it."...open unit and fully turn ejection motor until home position is reached...this is a home sensor switch not being activated.
