i am a recently retired engineer of 20 years, but this sounds like (based on the info given) a heater element fault, after the machine fills up and agitates a few times the heater should start, check the heater for open circuit, replace if needed, of course it just could be a wire off? if i have helped rate me please

Have the same problem. Have just looked in the service manual, it reads: Error 9 - Cancel the programme by returning the selector to the OFF position. Select again the programme and press the START/PAUSE button to switch the machine back on.
We recall having this problem with a previous Hoover washing machine and it was solved by cleaning the filter. The service manual recommends you clean the filter once a month. The procedure is as follows:
1) Open the flap
2) Only available on certain models: Pullout the corrugated hose, remove the stopper and drain the water into a container.
3) Before removing the filter, place absorbent towel below the filter cap to collect the small amount of water likely to be inside the pump.
4) Turn the filter anti-clockwise until it stops in the vertical position. Remove and clean.
5) After cleaning, replace the filter and lock by tightening the filter screw. Then follow all procedures described above in reverse order.
Hope that helps :)

I have a Fisher & Paykel GW609AU Smartdrive Excellence 6.5 Washing Machine that would start then stop then start then stop a few more times before eventually beeping.
I fixed it by bypassing(joined the white and yellow wire) the trip out switch which is located under the control module(one screw to remove). Now it Works.

It means there is a problem with the dryer board on it.You can try removing
the lid and just check the dryer control board on it.Make sure the
connections are ok and that none of the wires are broken. Then if the wires are ok the dryer control board will need to be replaced.
