Solved! Well the sound problem anyway. I was installing vista ultimate when i encountered the same problem, no sound!
So i installed the drivers from a third party web and it worked, no suprise there. I then noticed that the reason it wasnt playing sound wasnt the sound card or drivers, it was purely because the computer wasnt even seeing the speakers.
I then went to windows 7 and tried the vista drivers and VOILA. Solved. Just Install the vista drivers on windows 7 and one of your problems is over.

If somebody else has an another account on the laptop with administrator rights, you can log in and reset the password for that account. Otherwise, you can use software to reset password. There are a few programs you can use on Hiren's Boot CD: http://www.hirensbootcd.org/download/Hirens.BootCD.12.0.zip
