Add Water issue on Edgestar icemaker
This also applies to the Igloo ICE102.
There is a sensor at the water outlet which fills the ice-making trough, which appears to be poorly assembled. The fix is quite easy.
Remove the rear cover by removing six screws located underneath the unit at the back and sides. Keep the ice-maker upright at all times, per user instructions.
Once you have gently pried the back cover off, remove the top cover and hinged lid by removing two screws on each side, located underneath the top rim.
With the top off, you can see the water outlet at the back left side. Above the inlet is the offending sensor, which has a metal prong angled down. This prong must touch the water stream to detect the flow, but is probably too high. You can check this by filling the unit with water and turning it on. Watch the water as it fills the trough. With the tip of a screwdriver, bend the metal tip down so that it touches the water stream. Run the unit for a while to test.
If everything is ok, then reassemble and enjoy!
Thanks to jimbo from Tampa who provided the hint for this fix.
