it is seperate heaters for wash and dry and unlikely to be connected with blocked filter tho you should check filter regularly. take top off. on manifold running across top you will see stats. one of these at least is resettable by presssing a small knob in middle and if it has gone you will hear a slight click. then check dryer manifole for build up of lint as pooir air flow can cause stat to pop. for wash heating, start by checking continuity of the wash heater located at the bottom of the tub

First remove power from the washer. The top panel #2 in the diagram can be removed by removing the two screws in back. The kick panel #16 also has two screws that hold it in place. From there you should be able to find what you lost. Best of luck!

This sounds like a worn bearing housing or the bearing itself has packed up,either way you would have to strip and check these and replace what is broken

your problem is more than likely the inner drum spider that holds the inner drum onto the shaft thru the bearings to the rear to the drive pulley, you need to remove the rear access panel, the drum pulley then remove the nut and c clip, then pull drum out the front, the spiders on these are pot metal and when they corrode from water/soap/detergent and break this will let the inner drum erode the outer plastic drum, you can more than likely move the drum side to side and up and down, get this checked out as if it come loose it can fly apart in spin cycle,as for the springs, there are pins there and need to be depressed on the pin side and removed, this is the fourth G.E. washer I have found with this problem in this model

The best way I can suggest through my own personal experience is to turn the tub upside down withthe spider shaft facing down. Hold the tub up in the air about a foot and drop the whole tub on to the ground letting the shaft hit the pavement. It may take a few times to do it but it has always worked forme.
Hope this helps.
