I cannot play a dvd. i cannot switch source to dvd. i have a proscan tv/dvd combo

Did ever worked properly?Is it wright one for unit that you have,you can check that in your owner manual,if not I will go back to dealer and ask for replacment.

judging on your brand of tv i wouldnt suggest pursuing a fix the cost could be close in comparison with a new tv if your ok with it buy a good quality dvd player to run into the tv im sure you would be happier than spending a pile of money only to end up back where you were ok hope this helps

IS THERE NO SOURCE/FUNCTION BUTTON ON THE ACTUAL TV ITSELF, WHICH YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO SWITCH BETWEEN THE SOURCES.

This depends on whether you have digital cable box or not. If you have a Digi Cable Box look for the red/white RCA output and connect this via RCA cable to the Red/White Audio input on your surround.

If just Basic Cable look for a red/white audio output on the back of your televison. connect this to the Red/white in on your surround. Could be called tv in or auxillary.
